the pros are:

when poverty increases and middle class warfare leads to civil war - family head uses guns to protect families.

it can be also used to overthrow the government that has become corrupt and greedy.

governments (as nazis did) will curb gun ownership ...so that they can rule by fear.

Not so Mannu!

The Brittish are not in any way in fear of the government! Not yet anyway. Same with the Irish government. It's only when army walks around neighbourhoods with guns when the people are not armed that fear rules.
Guns have only one purpose to kill or maim.
How does that not instill fear?

BY allowing people to be in possession of guns the government is implying that they need to protect themselves, you are creating problems, creating fear in a subliminal seed. The implication of this is that
1/ People need to know how to use them and can become too gun-friendly.
2/ People lose their fear which turns to utter disrepect for the law.
3/ Guns fall into young and immature hands

Quinnie in UK the police are not allowed to carry gun. In US our cops carry guns because even the civilians do.

Army is different story. They must be prepared to fight outside intrusion. So not sure where you are going with this?

In US, we have some pussy democrats in power who tried to limit types of guns to be carried by civilians and not limiting types of guns to be carried by cops and other government officials, just so that they can easily fire multiple rounds and kill civiliians. That is inequality in policy. Liberals are morons. I hate to see them in power

Although I'm sure they exist, its a rare fool that believes "anyone and everyone" should be allowed to own a gun. Here in the US we regulate gun ownership. Well, we try to anyway. Generally, convicted felons can't own guns, ownership requires a permit, etc. Some think the regulations are too strict and some think they are too loose, but I've never met anyone who thinks we should eradicate all of them. 'Course I'm a moderate living in a largely moderate state, so what do I know. No doubt things are different in West Virginia.

Have you met the NRA, Quinnie? You'll love them. Dirty rotten scoundrels, to say the least. The enjoy the pretence of protecting gun ownership, but what they're really protecting are gun sales. As you can imagine, gun manufactures make a good deal more money selling to criminals then they do to Dick and Jane protecting the kids from those criminals. Incidentally, over 600,000 guns are stolen every year here in the US. Nice numbers if you sell the things.

Lord knows there's more where this came from, but here's one of my favorite NRA stories

oops!

Having said all that ..... we're damn fools if we willingly hand over our guns. That would be playing right into their hands. Admittedly, they've set it up well but I'm not buying into it.

Well, see that's the issue right there. The government shouldn't be allowing me anything. I allow the government. Or, as a wiser soul put it .."to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men". Not to allow, to secure.

But you should be, Quinnie. I can't imagine why someone who believes in government run concentration camps wouldn't be.

Don't worry so much about that, mannu. The damn Redcoats were much better armed and look what happened there. Resourcefulness, sacrifice, cleverness, passion - that's what wins revolutions.
