AG , I didn't start this club. Liberals are known to flock together with their thumbsups and hi-fives as signs of unity.I wish they cud sit on their own thumbs. That is less painful I think

it always amazes me, how low, people can go, to hurt someone, to be mean.. Not, that Jwhop would take any of this seriously, or to heart, thank-goodness!Did anyone see Obama's interview with Gibson? Obama says, he has no tolerance for mean people, I wonder how that will work for him, on this Earth!? All my love, with all my heart To ALL. ... IP: Logged |

BR - I just heard about the marriage ban in California. (You live in California, don't you?) 52% to 48% though. Those are hopeful numbers. IP: Logged |

My improv teacher tells me that her marriage is still legal for now. I'm hearing that there is going to be continued court action. The county of Solano is still granting gay marriages.I wish I could have headed the No on 8 campaign. I had a few suggestions I think they'd have liked. IP: Logged |

Not just in California, Tink. Voters approved gay marriage bans in Florida and Arkansas, also. Voters in Arkansas also voted to ban gay singles from being adoptive or foster parents. quote: Similar bans had prevailed in 27 states before Tuesday's elections, but none were in California's situation - with about 18,000 gay couples already married. The state attorney general, Jerry Brown, has said those marriages will remain valid, although legal challenges are possible .... Gay-rights legal groups filed a petition yesterday asking the Supreme Court to invalidate Proposition 8 on the grounds that voters did not have the authority to make such a dramatic change in state law without approval from the Legislature. The court refused to hear a similar petition in June, when gay-rights activists tried to knock the measure off the ballot.
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nation/politics/bal-te.ballot06nov06,0,1810071.story?track=rss Interesting with the high liberal power voting in this election, to say the least. Also of note, imo, was the comment in that article about ideas of traditional marriage crossing ethnic and partisan divides, etc. Do you think voters have the right to make such changes? Does the choice rest with voters and individual states? How do you think Obama will
quote: Advocate equal treatment of same sex couples"As your president, I will use the bully pulpit to urge states to treat same-sex couples with full equality in their family and adoption laws."—02/28/08, Obama letter to LGBT Americans Keep commitment to gay rights "I will never compromise on my commitment to equal rights for all LGBT Americans."—02/28/08, Obama letter to LGBT Americans
Obama's Campaign PromisesDo you think he'll use the "bully pulpit" to call for Federal regulations on gay marriage? I'm still just surprised by CA. Not so much the others but definitely CA.
Either way, laughing @ Tink's "52% to 48% though. Those are hopeful numbers."

Obama does not supports gay marriage but respects civil union and rights. So even if he uses bully pulpit, CA ban stays. I think Obama will permanently settle this issue at Federal level and statelevel because the constitution applies to individuals anywhere in USA.
