I was forwarded the following in an email. Made me laugh until my sides hurt. Surely, there will be a great big mirror at hand for some.

"This is surely small of me, but if Obama wins, I plan on giving him as much of a chance as the Democrats gave George Bush. I will gleefully forward every paranoid anti-Obama rumor that I see, along with YouTube footage of his verbal missteps. I will laugh and email heinous anti-Obama photoshop jobs, and maybe even learn photoshop myself to create some. I'll buy anti-Obama books, and maybe even a "Not My President" t-shirt. I'm sure that the mainstream bookstores won't carry them, but I'll be on the lookout for anti-Obama calendars and stuff like that. I will not wish America harm, and if the country is hurt (economically, militarily, or diplomatically) I will truly mourn. But i will also take some solace that it occurred under Obama's watch, and will find every reason to blame him personally and fan the flames."

You didn't have to wait long I guess. I hate to say I told you so, but didn't we warn that he does not do well without a teleprompter I hope he is more comedic in office than serious about economy changes with his marxist plans.

He is such a loser. Stocks tumbled fearing his rise and investors uncertainity over his tax plans. Will he really tax everyone big? And guns sales are high fearing a big national army that he is planning to deploy.

Even while we were in recession, Bush an MBA did well holding the unemployment rate steady and keeping the balance sheet of the government fairly balanced. But from Nov 4 on, nothing seems to be going right. The jerks bad lucks seems to be following this country like a shadow.

Gosh, I can't believe the united stupids elected him to office. Ok - I am in exile just packed my bags and on my way Others may decide to fight him head on

A gaffe and laugh at Obama's first presser

WASHINGTON: President-elect Barack Obama quickly discovered the perils of unscripted, off-the-cuff remarks in an era of instant news and political
correctness at his first media appearance in which he otherwise looked poised and assured.
At a half-hour Chicago news conference, his first since being elected, Obama was discretion personified in response to about ten questions, but one moment of carelessness led to a gaffe that had to be quickly rectified.

Asked if he has spoken to past presidents about the task at hand, Obama said he had spoken to all of them that are living, before joking, "I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about, you know, doing any séances." Séance is an attempt to communicate with spirits, and while Nancy Reagan was reported to have consulted astrologers about her husband, it was actually Hillary Clinton who was linked to séances.

In any event, Obama later called Nancy Reagan "to apologize for the careless and offhanded remark" his aides said. The president-elect, they added, also "expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share, and they had a warm conversation."

But for this contretemps, Obama was relaxed and composed as he answered questions about the economic crisis with the caveat that he is still only the president elect, and for now he would defer to President Bush since in the American system there is only one president at a time. Obama will be sworn in on January 20, which is the formal Inauguration Day signaling transfer of executive powers.

There were also moments of self-deprecatory humour during the new conference which were later parsed for what it might mean for the debate on race that surrounded his campaign and which will inevitably continue into his term. It began innocuously enough when a journalist asked what kind of dog he was going to get his daughters who had been promised one when they went to the White House.

Obama said the family was looking for a dog which would not aggravate the allergies of his daughter Malia, which narrowed the choice (activists are already pressing the family to forsake pure breeds and adopt one from a shelter.) "Obviously, a lot of shelter dogs are mutts like me," Obama then said with a smile. "So whether we're going to be able to balance those two things, I think, is a pressing issue on the Obama household." Mutt is a term used for mixed-breed dogs.

The off-the-cuff dig at the Reagans and the self-effacing manner in which he remarked on his bi-racial background generated more heat than his comments on the economy or the one international question on Iran. Conservatives still smarting over the electoral rout had their say on the blogs.

"Well, you inane fools elected him and you're going to be seeing much more of these 'off-the -cuff' comments. See you in four years," wrote one Republican supporter on a political blog. "The new tone of Washington. Welcome to the Divided States of Obamanation," said another.

Obama dealt deftly with a tricky question on how he would respond to a congratulatory letter from Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmedinijad, saying he will be reviewing the letter and respond appropriately. "It's only been three days since the election. Obviously, how we approach and deal with a country like Iran is not something that we should, you know, simply do in a knee- jerk fashion," he added, after noting that Iran’s support of terrorist organizations and development of a nuclear weapon is unacceptable.

Overall, the news conference event was largely well-received, with most pundits saying Obama carried himself in a "presidential" manner bolstered by a phalanx of senior advisors and aides lined up behind him. The President-elect and his wife will arrive in the Capital for a meeting with President Bush and his wife Laura on Monday to discuss transition issues.

LMAO Eleanore!! You are so right. We should give Obama the same respect that was afforded to Bush.

BR.. this has nothing to do with race at all. In fact, Mannu, Eleanore and I are all minorities.

Stocks tumbled because of the economic data that came out including the new unemployment numbers.

Wrong, I don't think you followed the stock market. The actual unemployment numbers was released too late.

Oh, BR, don't be such a sour puss. The main racist crap slung around throughout this campaign came from Obama's camp. That is, Rev. Wright and his grandiose the white-man-is-the-devil speechmaking. Note that I'm not casting blame on Obama himself, either. We all believe he innocently and apparantly ignorantly sat in the pews for 20 years and, once alerted by others, finally recognized the racist rhetoric and promptly removed himself from that unsavory situation.

I suppose that's a handy free pass. No one will have to defend Obama from anything. Anyone to criticize him is obviously just racist.

Eleanore, you're funny when you're feverish. Feeling any better?

Brilliant in its simplicity, isn't it? Sometimes you've got to give the enemy their due props. I've been called an evil genius before ... well, ok, maybe just the evil part ... but lately I'm just plain humbled.

LOLOLOL!

BR - small question? Why is being anti Bush make you patriotic but being anti Obama make you a racist? Shouldn't we give Obama the chance to prove himself as a person, not because of the color of his skin but because of his abilities as a leader? Its a sad day in this country if speaking up against a Presidential policy makes you a racist...Obama's race doesn't have to make him a bad president but it also doesn't have to make him a good one...hes just another man, another politician and should be treated as such. Nothing more nothing less...it would be as sad to me to think he got elected because of his race as it would be if he lost because of it...I like to think that people in this country choose their leader based on ability...naive? Perhaps...

Why does everything in GU go back to Jwhop? I mean jeez give the man a break...Eleanore was talking about the vast majority of the population especially on the coasts...U could not step 5 feet in California or NY without seeing an anti Bush slogan...what the heck does that have to do with Jwhop...

Exactly...

It used to be a sad day in this country if speaking up against a President made you unpatriotic, and welcomed invitations for you to leave. I think some of us are just watching as things turn 'round.

Yes you could, in both states. Both states have a good number of Conservatives.
