Popular vote:

Obama: 52.5%
McCain: 46.2%

In recent history, this is a very large spread for a popular vote.
Electoral college:

Obama: 364
McCain: 162

Obama received more than twice as many electoral college votes as McCain.

If this isn't a mandate I'm not sure what is.

In 2000, George Bush lost the popular vote, and barely won the electoral.

In 2004 George Bush won the popular, but barely won the electoral.

This time there's no question, the people have spoken.

Nope says nothing.
In some states, you get all of the electorates if you are the winner while in others its a percentage.

McCain still did well collecting 42 million votes I think. Everyone knew this is going to be tough one, with people crying change.
Its pyschological -- people don't stay on top for long. Take sex for example, you climax and then anticlimax. Rove knew it and predicted Obama victory.

Whats noticeable is that there wasn't enough turnout of people in this election compared to 2000. That tells me this country does not trust politicians.

The liberal media stole this election.

And I am not going to watch msnbc, cnn, abc news etc in protest.

Some foolish news reporters, Powell and Maddock (nbc) whats that beeche's name on the Olberman show , etc were so unprofessional when they cried on camera. They are reporters and not supposed to feel while reporting lest they be called biased. Gosh - I felt like slapping them. Ignorant bums. Another liberals trait is that they like people to watch them while they are having sex Should I cut paste all my jokes on liberals , and add some more insights to it?

- Reporting secretly from an underground bunker

The percentage turnout was higher this year than in both 2004 and 2000 according to CNN.

Whats this about sex climax and anti climax?

I agree that the media was totally liberally biased this time, and I also am skeptical of Obama, but I am willing to give him a chance.

I think what I fear more than anything is big brother scenarios and expansion of the govts power, we saw a lot of expansion of the power of the executive office, and the feds in general under Bush (expansion of VP powers, patriot act, no child left behind, not to mention this 700 billion dollar socialist bailout etc.)

I hope we see a reversal of that under Obama, not simply an expansion of govt in a different way (socialized medicine, higher taxes, etc.)

People who voted as % of population was still not that high compared to numbers some 40 years ago but perhaps very close to 2004 levels or slightly more. The liberal media wants us to believe that people are involved in democracy in much numbers and Obama is the clear choice. I can only believe on one side of it, the latter. And God knows how many illegals registerd from Acorn that is spreading its wings over several battle ground states. Also I hear it takes 10 minutes to hack NJ voting computers. Who knows what other factors other states suffers from.

On sex which is off topic but was trying to make a point on cycles of nature and correlating that with peoples psyches -- During sex, your whole body climaxes , reaches a peak and then anti climaxes. Watch it every time. If you are attentive you will meet Universe in that peak moment.
That is why the west craves for more sex because they know that at peaks they feel something different that cannot be explained in words and they crave for it. But unfortunately it is short lived. A mystic knows the art of sustaining that peak experience -- too hard to explain.

If you have points on your driving system it is an indication of your driving behavior. Obama's records were not that great on the factors that i was looking for like (too much wastefull government spending on unnecessry programs, high taxation that punishes enterpreneurs and businesses impacting individuals also in the end, etc etc...) But I am still willing to give him a chance because he promised to listen to us.

The approximate percentage of the voting age population that voted in this election, according to calculations by Michael MacDonald of George Mason University. This equals the turnout seen in the 1964 presidential election, but does not quite match the 63.8% that turned out to vote in the 1960 election, in which John F Kennedy narrowly beat Richard Nixon.
