is it time to end prohibition on marijuana..also known as hemp, once one of our biggest cash crops? this article focusses on its medicinal uses but that is not the only thing hemp is good for. biodegradable plastics, cloth, naval supplies, even the Declaration of Independence was written on hemp paper... http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/StockInvestingTrading/a-budget-cure-marijuana-taxes.aspx#pageTopAnchor IP: Logged |

and lets not forget the scads of convicted pot "felons" who cost the govt $30000/yr EACH to keep - i don't cost that much out in the free world!! and the border drug problem that would be eliminated along with the cost of policing it...and on and on and on and on.................................of course there are some people for whom pot is a BAD thing. but alcohol kills and ruins MANY more and there's no reason we can't keep our driving under the influence laws (for a little extra revenue) before dupont chemicals got into petrol-based plastics and drug manufacturing, and put insiders in the government to lobby against it hemp was one of our biggest most profitable crops. Agricultural Hemp ~ http://www.houseofhemp.co.uk/hemp.html ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~went looking for an article about an experimental eco house built partly from hemp .. i couldn't find the link :-(( .. ( it was a bbc news article ) the hemp was used impregnated with some sort of resin .. for wall boards .. the project looked interesting .. but could help but wonder about it's potential inflammability .. found these links though .. some nice houses :-)) An Eco Arc practice profile with text from Tony Greenway’s article for the Journal Magazine. ~ http://www.ecoarc.co.uk/current_projects.html ~ Dutch pioneer floating eco-homes ~ http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6405359.stm ~ IP: Logged |
