For the rest of the world, it is Father’s Day
But in my situation, I don’t have much to say
To a man that refuses to come around
I’ve never seen his face, or heard the sound
Of his voice since he feels the need to deny
The simplest duty, hiding his eyes in lies
He hasn’t the right to leave this space
I feel a sense of loss that none can replace
There is no grave to visit, no departed warmth to mourn
He left long before I breathed, and was born
Yet he is alive, behind his thick walls of nervous glass
Cowering behind unlisted addresses and lawyers in mass
My anger gives way to bitter and lonely aching
I wish I could show him the mistake he is making
Preferring instead to stay in his desolate cave
Unwilling to feel, he is a challenge to save
We share so many parallel talents and traits
Drawing skills and a sensitive nature that’s straight
What he doesn’t realize is it’s no longer his choice
From the moment of birth, I also have a voice
A right to know this man, who’s my biological dad
He chose to create me, but this neglect makes me sad
He is missing out on the special days yet to take place
His hands won’t give me away; He’ll miss the first grandchild’s face
Yet this deepening sadness springs from a heart that cares
Happy Father’s Day to you Dad, though you live I know not where

Thanks Randall and LoonyFish...It's comforting to know others can relate cause it seems no one around me has such a permanently absent father figure, and I feel alone sometimes not being able to share my sadness with them.
