I am an open book.
Some pages dog-eared, for easy review.
some words bold-faced font
standing out, not to be missed
others whispers, footnotes at the bottom of the page,
written sideways with an illegible hand
I have used invisible ink for the mystery hunters
for some, no matter how clearly written, the words don't make sense.
Still, I am open if they choose to read me
Maybe cliffs notes would be preferable
Maybe the abridged version
But would it be as richly written
as deeply typed
The spine as thickly woven and sturdy,
upright yet not rigid
I have inscribed many dedications in the chapters
some hand written
some with permanent ink
Some pages are stuck together
some words read so much they are barely seen anymore, like lines on a palm
The cover is still fresh, though more worn at the edges
The dustjacket shed and changed
at whim
but the words remain and multiply
New verses written, sometimes altering the old ones.
I am an open book.
Are you a voracious reader?

We hated gently, carefully
As if we were someday to love"-Venus Trines at Midnight

I'm all over here- just taking a wander through the cache. Rereading.

I'll be bumping a few I think. I finally wrote again the other day.... It had been a LONG long time.

"All deaths are suicides, do you realize that? Every single one. The only distinction is that, with some people, suicide is a subconscious choice, and with others it's a conscious choice. Otherwise, those who commit suicide and those who succumb to accident, illness or "old age," die for exactly the same reason: belief in the inevitability of death." Linda Goodman
