The Ocean Has No Memory

In echoes I hear laughter through the watery expanse
I can almost feel the sun around which other planets dance
Sometimes I struggle upward toward that lovely siren call
And nearly reach the surface that defines my backward fall

Sometimes I sense the blinding light that almost filters through
But everything I am amounts to nothing I can do

Useless is my fortune, and futile is my path
I flounder in the undertow of karma's holy wrath
This life is lightly graven onto weighty chains of lead
And all too soon will wash away, a story left unsaid

Paras,

That was beautifully written, but I can't imagine that you would think of your own path as futile. As for the unsaid? I think you said it very well indeed!

I don't know why, but I had to post this
Emily Dickinson poem.

When that which is and that which was
Apart, intrinsic, stand,
And this brief tragedy of flesh
Is shifted like the sand,

When figures show their royal front
And mists are carved away,
Behold the atom I preferred
To all the lists of clay!

Just a moment of seemingly overwhelming depression, Gia, my dear. A spectre of fear, nothing more. Given up very quickly, I am pleased to be able to say. Thank you for the Dickinson! Every time I hear one of her poems somewhere, I want to read more. Someday I'll "look it up"... maybe today?
