slide this way
move that way
feel the turn of the tempo
a brush of skin
a touch of breath
pull closer and fly away
just close enough to touch
just far enough not to be too close
i can hear my heart beat in my ear
i can see your pulse right there
step in time to this song
almost like a kiss
almost like a sensual embrace
twirl into the night
hold on tightly
don't let go
the music pulls us in
the world falls away
as we dance this dance we do
almost as if we are dancing on air
eyes sharing dreams through a look
an unbroken chain of melody
a crooked grin
a tilted chin
still moving to the music within
the song has no words
it has a tale to tell
our hearts sing out the words
at a volume only we can hear
woven fingers
grasped oh so tightly
step together as if it will never end
the music slows as if to watch
the magic we create with our dance
feet moving in the circle of unknown
drawing out the line of our path
our hearts song is our's alone
forever heard by the world of mystery
hand on shoulder
fingers touching hair
a single touch and it all goes away
its just the two of us
doing this dance of love
a secret smile
a melted heart
held only for you or me to see
the music flows through like the breeze
carrying us over the land and sea
and as it slows and finally stops
sets us down, and sets us free.

Have you ever had that feeling? As if the "moment" you share with someone is fleeting at best? that it can never be acknowleged or even approached except in certain circumstances?? I don't know if you can see it in this poem but that is what it is about.

Beautifully sensuously put words creating an image of sheer longing - that was terrific!

Great work!
