(This is from a song I wrote based on the recent Howard Hughes biopic. Without the tune it possibly loses something in translation...but, we'll see. Here goes.)Hey...
I'm going round and round and round the bend, oh,
Hey...
I'm grounded on the top floor
Turn the lights off, switch a movie on
Lose yourself in it...
I tried to do things in a modern way,
But no-one can set me free
From this room I can't escape,
You can wait around, you won't see me
Through nighttime and the morning grey,
Sunshine and a rainy day,
I know I can fly above the weather
In colour or two-tone grey
Hey...
It all seemed such a great idea
Hey...
The plans laid out on the ground
Hell's Angels, up against the clouds
Moving without sound
Epitomized the modern age,
- Were the last years spent in vain?
People say it's an outrage,
But we'll have to shoot again
Through nighttime and the morning grey,
Sunshine and a rainy day
I know I can fly whatever the weather
In colour or two-tone grey,
What a way to remember my name
Hey, hey, hey,
Will I ever fall from grace?
Hey, hey, hey, hey...
You wonder, at dead of night,
You wonder, have you gone too far?
Or are you invincible, whatever?
Fly me to the ridge, over the parched terrain,
The blue sky won't give,
Give it summer rain
I gave my all to the modern age,
Spruce Goose, with her records in tow,
Another coup for TWA,
And we're right across the globe
Through nighttime and the morning grey,
Sunshine and a rainy day,
I know I can fly wherever I want to
In colour or two-tone grey
What a way to remember my name
Hey, hey, hey,
Will I ever fall from grace?
Hey, hey, hey
