It must be an unspoken rule.
Never letting fools know just
what it is that makes them a fool.Somehow it seems so unfair
to pass judgement on us (fools)
when all we ever did was dare.
Listening to the rain fall
I wait patiently for recognizable
footsteps to walk down the hall.
But they won't come I know.
My love for you...now I see
that it was all a show.
My love was real
my heart was there
for you to steal.
Yet here you are
facing me down,
with fear drowning
everything with tar.
How could you be so cold?
Nothing is for free
yet my love won't be bought and sold.
I would have given you everything
I would have given you something.
Anything.
Fools always know last.
Of their mistakes,
will they learn and take from the past?
Someone always forgets to tell
the fools just why it is
they don't see their own personal hell.
Not until it is too late.
Always too late.
Fools always know last.
Now I know where I stand
and its all falling so fast.
Now I know just who I am
and you can bet all there is
I don't like the place I stand.
I was never a fool until you.
Now I look left and right
never really knowing what to do.
Fools always know last.
So why did it take me so long?
