Surfaces
you see ripples
they start small
but their effect eventually spreads
and encompasses the entire expanse
growing larger over more time and space
until all you see is more time and space.
Yet
When you dive under,
the ripples increase on the surface..
they splash, they spread faster
I have never been one to dwell on the surface.
I have explored the depths.
First, the exhilaration of challenge,
my body tingling with promise
as it entered a realm
that was as yet unknown,
yet known
And the acceptance that once the ripples are caused
*by me*
what can you do but hold your breath and jump in and look
.........really look.........
and the ripples will settle while underneath you find the wonder
and you wonder what caused you to fear the ripples on the surface.
because surface is just a layer to peel
it isn't true
a facade
so easily changed
so easily affected.
And under
is what matters
under is worth seeing, though maybe you forgot the goggles
though maybe you forget how to swim.
you can still see clearer, even if your lungs burn
because the surface reflects back to you
what you put in front of it
while beneath absorbs you and brings you to life and challenges fear.
and makes you feel
these depths are real.
I jumped in
to see
I still feel like me
though possibly
a little bit enriched
maybe a little wet
........................
I haven't come to the surface yet
........................

I love the way the Word Druids sneak in, possess you for a time, then depart to possess someone else!! Can you tell me more of what you saw without your goggles on, challenging fear down there in the depths, when the ripples had stilled themselves?
