Love is
a challenge
too many lives touched with promise
too many loves to express and
too many lives to make a mess of
yet still
I press to my chest when it wants to burst with joy
the crest of love filling the scarred ends of me
burnt from planting too many harvests in the full burning light
and the top flights I soar
not keeping score
And touching and wanting to touch more
not with my body but in my core
the parts that move me to tears
at the thought of filling
this life with yours
it sears
it sizzles
because of possibility and actuality
and unknown fantasy

potentiality

potently grown in me
for only me to see and the more I know
or realize
that this can only be inside
the more I cry from wilting

yet somehow petals stay
moist and alive
fed from the inside
