I wanted to write words to express
But I find they don't come easily.
They do, but the censors swallow them before they come
they are necessary
born from years of sublimating
things I know would hurt
so I am a good girl somewhere
I know my duties
but still
I am passion personified

So only so long
(so long to my good girl)

can I be still

(so long to my censor)

can I stifle will

It purges through eyes met
and unmet
It purges through regret
and yet
I haven't come in some time
like my body knows
this is where it goes
and this is where it stops
You hear such pretty things
from caring do gooders
you just want to meet their enthusiasm
in action
but somewhere still, it feels wrong

(so long longing)

Before I can erect a circus tent
I have to get one on the road
The ground underneath looks so ravaged
But like it would happily put up
(with me)
foundations for a century.....

And here I am with my travelling shoes
practically sewn on my feet
Still paused in the doorway
uncertain
because once the going's gone
the show must go on.
