Acceptance.
When all the roads shatter under your calloused feet
the ground splitting as you try to explore it
the water unmoved when you try to mar the surface
Surface too shiny to effect change.
Too full of love and perfect faith
to let you slice it with hands clasped in prayer formation
ready for diving
ready for treading
ready for digging itchy earth
The earth is in your soul
it infuses you with hope
that you can open up and become what he sees
what they see.
And for that perfect gift
you relent
You repent
you accept........
except
now the road allows your passing
now the earth is made of peat moss
now the water is soft and welcoming
as you gently ease yourself in
and grow like a voracious weed
yes, a weed, growing where it's blown
accepting what its shown
and adapting in order to own
shadowed corners and sunshine eyes
parts of yours and parts of mine
Allow the dark, embrace divine
I see that I can't see
what was free to me
I see that you were obsession for a reason
and a season
so to you I give my heart
apart
and though it splits me to admit
the gift of you I can't open
because I want it too much to quit.
I will never quit on you
but I must pause
to gather my bearings
before I lose what drew you in
I want to be a better me
I want to be what you see.
That sacred part you opened
with your very self and soul.
I do love.
But I need to be whole.
