Lovely HSC, Why isn`t Water shaken? Wasn`t Jesus`s Water shaken when he wrestled the devil (ego/nafs) in the desert? Was not iblis`s Water shaken when he was asked to bow to Adam? juniperb - I was talking about jesus and the devil, iblis and adam, siddhartha and mara, sure, but wasnt I also talking about jesusandthedevil, iblisandadam, siddarthaandmara ? There is no conflict in the whole, and only a deceptive appearance of conflict in the parts. What Jesus wrestled with was this illusion. What he fought with was only himself. The fight was won (or "one"), when it was surrendered. The paradox might be stated as thus: "Resisting" the devil is just resisting resistance. I was getting a water, and, absently I shook it, the way I would a juice, and it got me thinking about rumi, lol, and trying to reconcile the paradox of action and non-action. You dont shake water the way you would shake a bottle of apple juice (or even very old wine) that had settled, in order to recombine the ingredients. But, if you did (which I did), it wouldnt make any difference (like it would have if, say, it had been a soda, which would have just combusted when i opened it). I would imagine one could play with this analogy for hours. Minutes, at least. hsc IP: Logged |

"My poet-child, I want you to sing with Me: I barter nothing with time and deeds. My cosmic Play is done. The One Transcendental I was. The Many Universal I am. I am the Soul-Flower of My Eternity. I am the Heart-Fragrance of My Infinity." By: Sri Chinmoy http://www.poetseers.org/the_poetseers

Going back to the orignal post.Truth is plain and simple. Just as water is so plain compared to wine. When we are put in water its easy to swim compared to if are put in wine. Rumi is asking us to make our body , the vehicle to be able to swim smoothly in whatever direction it takes you. In the bible it says likewise "In the spirit world we do not know from where the wind bloweth or where it takes you" Forgive me for errors as I just paraphrased. When the drop of water joins the whole ocean it looses its identity and "the all in all" i.e drop of water becomes the "all" ocean. IP: Logged |

"Plunge into the vast ocean of Consciousness Let the drop of water that is you Become a hundred mighty seas. But do not think the drop alone becomes the ocean The ocean too becomes the drop." -Rumi------------------ ~ What we do for ourselves dies with us.
