It's A Good Life(Daddy´s Testament)
R.Dafremen My father never cried
Not that I'd ever seen
He never wasted time
On things that might have been
Instead he'd bend his mighty back
And take me in his mighty arms
And with a smile upon his lips
My daddy would go on and on
About the life he loved so much
And with a sparkle in his eye
My daddy testified
I can hear him testify
"It's such a good life son
Don't you doubt it for a minute
All I've seen and done
From open eyes to setting sun
And though I've made mistakes
Don't you do the things I've done
But don't you miss a single one
Because it really is
A very good life son."
My father worked the fields
Until his hands were raw
He was the hardest working man
I think I ever saw
But when he'd bend his mighty back
To hold earth in his blistered hands
There was a smile upon his lips
For daddy loved to work the land
Then he would call me to his side
A joyful tear was in his eye
As he would testify
I still hear him testify
"It's such a good life son
Don't you doubt it for a minute
All I've seen and done
From open eyes to setting sun
And though I've worked so hard
Out here in the burning Sun
Don't you think it wasn't fun
Because it really is
A very good life son."
My daddy said to me
"Don't you give up boy, you can do it."
He read to me
The Little Engine That Could
And he would say
"Don't let nothing get you down, you'll get through it."
Until this very day
I love this life, like Daddy did
Like Daddy said I would.
My father was a man
To the very end
Even when the cancer took his strength
And started killing him
There lying on his mighty back
He couldn't lift his mighty arms
Managed a smile upon his lips
Whispering "Come closer to me, son."
So I did, and when I did
He did something that made me cry
He began to testify
My daddy testified
"It's been a good life son
Don't you doubt it for a minute
All I've seen and done
From open eyes to setting sun
Although I'm lying here
And my days are almost done
I don't regret a single one
Because it's really been
A very good life son."
"It's such a good life son
Don't you doubt it for a minute
All I've seen and done
From open eyes to setting sun
And though I've made mistakes
Don't you do the things I've done
But don't you miss a single one
Because it really is
A very good life son."
