Why can't you see that you're so dear to me,
You kick-started my waking heart

I'm well-to-do, I live for you,
And all that I can do is dream on

Why won't you look at me, I can barely see your face,
You could stun, for one, you son of a gun,
But you're lacking in good grace;
You're evasive, now you're here
And now you're gone;
I've got style, a burning smile,
And all that I can do is dream on

When a man gives a metaphor for love
And a woman, in her need, believes him,
Why does he stay, only to play with her heart
(And he's got it down to such a fine art)

Why are you so unwilling to go ahead?
You won't try, are you far too shy,
Or are you just disinterested?
They say 'bout all the best things, you'll
miss them, yes, they do,
So won't you please remember me,
'Cause I'm madly in love with you
