Lately I'm guilty
Of borrowing
The days of my life
And not listening
To the words I'm speaking
Because the words you've spoken
Make it hard for me
To keep my Eyes open

I feel our troubles
Are far from over
So pull me under
And take me over
Cut out my heart
And put in your ways
Do it just enough to
Feed my envy.

And could the grace to fall on my face
Help me escape into the commonplace?
It's not my chosen
These days have spoken
The autumn leaves are blowing over me...

Under a shadow
Beneath my sorrow
The darkness falling
Upon the morrow
Is winter creeping
Into my slumber
I'm barely breathing
It pulls me under

Between my lifetimes
Before their coming
A silent somber
Beleaguered nothing
The satin dancers
Are ashen colored
The rain is coming
So is the thunder

But if the sunlight falls on my face
And I should turn my gaze and walk away
That's not me leaving
Or disbelieving
It's just a spectre born of autumn days...

But of course, you idiot. To do anything less would be preposterous. Wallow in your mundane humaness for this moment. The time will come for all the rest, and you will be ready. For now, go with whatever is the soup of the day.

I should note that i use "idiot" as a term of endearment quite frequently. I also had an entirely different response written out, one that was thoughtful and included references to singing birds, but suddenly something told me to scrap that and go with idiot instead. Your writing, however, was really poignant.

No, no, not stupid. So not stupid. It's one of my favorite things you've written, in fact. It has a lovely, graceful quality to it. And "spectre" is one of my favorite words.
