Well since you really have an ear for this, I was hoping you could give a bit of constructive critisism on the new Song he did (and this time I am not in it .. Booo! Lol!)Its a remake of Britney Spear's Circus but with a more rocker-esque feel and changed lyrics: http://mp3upload.ca/files/2569/mannujace Just click on "Listen." IP: Logged |

I plugged my headphones into my work computer's speaker jack, and had a listen. Overall it sounded really good.I'd like to give a more thorough critique when I have more time. IP: Logged |

I should have done this last night, but I had other things on my mind. Some things I remember thinking from my single listen: I didn't like the crash cymbals at the beginning. They were either too loud, or possibly just not pleasing to the ears. His voice sounded too low in the mix to start. It seemed to get better at other points of the song, so I don't know what's up with that. More tweaking with dynamics (loudness and quietness) might prove fruitful. His voice sounded too thin often. I think we've all become accustomed to pro studio techniques for bolstering the voice. The things I'd try would be:
- Doubling the vocal at least in parts. You hear this all the time in music. It's the same voice, same singer whose just done two rounds of vocals that are put together to beef up the vocal. I'm not sure if you could just double the existing vocal track, but you could try it.
- Maybe try a little reverb here and there on the vocal.
- Background vocals. Backing vocal parts might fill out the sound a bit more, and give it a more polished feel.
I'll listen to it again when I get a chance, and get back to you if there's more I can recommend. Hopefully my critique isn't too harsh. The product as it stands is better than average I'd say. IP: Logged |
