My Uncle put Aids in his veins
and died when he was forty-five.
Grandma, sobbing, said it was no surprise
because he had been attracted to sharp
things
all his life.
To me it seemed
that he would rather be putting
something in, then letting things
come out.

And now, his progeny stares at me
with Jesus colored eyes
and unmarked angel arms
His foot tapping an open grave
as he puts death up his nose,
smirking, thinking,
he's one-upped his Old Man.

Jesus, Gypsee.

I feel Neptune close.
This is beautiful.

Thanks for reminding me
of what also can be.

That was sad, yet very beautifully expressed.

Thank You for your comments. Yes it is sad, but a happy ending....

(my poetry prof said to never explain your poetry, so I'm breaking one of Chuck's rules)

My cousin ended up going to prison for an assault.

Then the second time, the person he assaulted informed the police of his dealings with cocaine. His house was raided, and there was JUST enough to put him away for 'intent to distribute.'

He lives in FLA, they don't really mess around there. So according to the Three Times Your Out Law, one more offense and he would be away for life.

so when he got out, my Dad gave him the start up money for his own flooring business. He was actually very good at it, and soon specialized in ceramic tiling. Which is more expensive. He then hired one, two, and so on helpers.

Now he has his own home, a nice car, and a really cool girlfriend..

I like to think all of our prayers helped out, as well as his Dads heavenly guidance. Plus he is a scorpio, total survivor. So, Yay for happy endings!!

I absolutely adored this. I think it's one of the best things I've read here. So simple, so sad.

Well done Gypsee.
