Calm, yet torn
why am I here?
Cycling back,
it's all too clear...

Watch it repeat
say a prayer
Heart's unbroken,
yet stretched with care.

Rerun this outreach
nostalgia burns,
Thought by now
this lesson's learned

Stuck in wonder
Needing to know,
How we move ahead,
Can this connection grow?

I'd like to think
there's more than debt,
Karmic past afflictions
where wounds must be set.

Edgy tension
and a vigilant soul
In the midst of chaos,
I need a way to be whole.

Thanks for the comment, cpn_edgar_winner! I'm glad you liked it and it is my pleasure to share.

Sometimes there are moments where there is no such thing as "up" and reality can't be pinned down or summed up neatly...I'm going through my fair share of them right now.

Very Cool

*Just* a soulmate...? Do tell! That certainly doesn't sound minor.

And I'd almost forgotten about the Full Moon tomorrow..wonder if that might be why emotions feel like they are running so high...and yet there's a thread of calm in spite of that, at least for me.

Yeah, i felt similarly! & i'm just working things out with my other half. Too much too explain here. But it's good.

What was this poem all about for you?

Hey T,

I'm glad to hear you're working it out with your other half

For me, this poem was about a close friendship with a man I've known since childhood who I once felt something more for, but now we're just good friends. Since we reconnected about 6 months ago, he progressively edged closer, then became almost needy (he is also a recovering addict) then pulled away, then the cycle has started over. I'm figuring out how to deal with the tides of emotion and I hope he comes close again, just not *that* close because it was impinging on my current relationship. He feels lonely and I want to be here for him, but I cannot and will not become his crutch.

I see. It's hard to be there for people who are somewhat smothering. He's lucky to have a friend like you.
