there's this old man

he lives
right down
this lane
he goes out
every night
for
a
walk

he stops by
and
peeps
in
the door
where
the murder
took
place

the bas****
he reads
Dostoevsky

drinks
plenty
of
whisky

when the police
asked him
where he was
when the woman
was killed
he
said
he was out
drinking

but
i
doubt
that

preoccupation with grammar

wonder why people talk of truth
when they get drunk slightly
wonder why they make such a fuss
when they have had a beer or two
why they care for synonyms
for correct diction and grammar
and talk in the slurred drawl of Bogart
wonder why they talk of women
when they get drunk!
so this guy went
on and on
he had had a beer or two
i kept punctuating him timely
whispering,
do you?

the growing

when he began about with his kith and kin
in childhood for long he looked in every dust-bin

he looked for scrap papers, for old poems
for thrown-away songs that lied therein

once he threw his voice out the window
which never returned and he had the idea of sin

when he grew up, they asked him, "Well?"
and, he said, "Well, yes, that could have been."

taureau20!!! Oh, it's been a long time... How good it is to have 'this old man' back posting works with us again!

I love the depths, colors, and imaginings from your worlds! It was sin for you to stay away from us for so long!

Hi taureau20...

Didn't mean to actually call you "old" --- Actually, I am the 'old-ish' one compared to others here... entering elderhood this year with my 2nd Saturn Return!

*uber-dramatics*
Ooooooh! My life is just ooooover!!

*wipes tears from her swollen eyes*
*thick snail-snot glistens as it glides down her upper lip*
*blows her nose noisily, wiping again and again as the dam tissue can't seem to get it all*
*her chin quivering... she bravely throws her head back, runs fingers through her hair, and composes herself*
*her dignity... is restored... she thinks?*

So~!.. You're not married yet? I think you will make a very fine 'catch' for a lucky-someone... Take your time! I wish you the greatest luck and happiness... Hope you will actually find your true soulmate on earth at this time in your life!

Rebel Without A Cause (movie trailer) [2:22] http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi344129817/

What a sweet thoughtful offer for the girl .... Hope it works out for you!

All that fiery energy funneled into the right direction could accomplish so much good. To have a mate to "live" it with?!-- Hell, that could be a Dream Come True!!

taureau20 ... I feel your excitement!! hmmm? zodiac sign of "taurus" maybe??

... Expressing your love and interest through gifts, materials... This surely can be a special and excellent experience to be on the receiving end of attention like this....

But I hope for your sake that your girl turns out to be more than just a 'material girl'... That after all your dazzling, she will see the real you.

"You"- who you are inside - would be anyone's real 'present'...

(Are you American?... I may be mistaken, but I thought you were in India?)

Well we have a history and it is a painful one - I did wrong things and might just have to forever regret what I did and just how cruel I was. Sometimes you just don't see the other person....you just don't see. I remember there was this one time when she asked me 'did you love me even a little bit' - I had a clear image of a Great Thirst thirsting for a drop of water... and I reluctantly -- lying -- said yes and she said "ok" as though that great thirst were somehow quenched with a "drop" of a word. Oh well, I am in India and I am an Indian - it is the constant raining of all things American on our nation (and I presume everywhere else too) that makes me love so many American things such as movies etc. American soft-power is huge.

^ Must have been a long time ago? Have you considered writing a poem to her about this realization? ....

She is herself a good writer - and I wrote her many poems - which is why I cannot write anymore - because she is my muse - if I cannot write to her then I cannot write - for we speak to one another through poetry and when we don't speak, there is no poetry....

Oh well, long story. I will tell you another time yeah?
