Be the Valentine : Greater Love original posted on Thursday, February 14, 2008, 8:39pm PST by: mirage29 {on a different messageboard site}February 14, VALENTINE'S DAY - Greater Love has the person... willing to lay down their important busy schedules in order to make "priority" a fellow-human's need. In the end, what can really matter? -- It's not your "things," for 'you can't take it with you', -- but it's the time you put into relationships. Or, the talent you volunteered toward someone who could not possibly pay you back. Or perhaps, the time you allowed your own 'privacy' to be interrupted... by the stranger with a brave smile that, had you not invited them to share, would be alone to endure the pain of their desperations and fears -- bereaved of hope and support -- in the 'inhumanity' of isolation. In that moment that was clearly one that could have passed by, you chose to make the connection. You let them know that you were pulling for them. You listened with your heart and prayed that 'somehow' they would 'be okay, while things were far from feeling okay' in life's circumstances. Today, honor goes to the Friend who has made this 'interruption' for others, who freely takes time from their own life in order to help a Neighbor feel 'safer' in those bad situations of life, which can beset us all. {from diary The Frozen-Solid Surreal Middle 8-16-2007} Greater Love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friend. ---John 15:13 NIV IP: Logged |

This is beautiful just like the author. It took me back to swimming in the quarry as a youngster. We didn't have money for a fancy membership for a pool, but the quarry was a buck or two to go swim. I would be up high on a flat stone hoping when I dove, a hiding unforeseen rock wouldn't bash my head in or have me lose some teeth..alas I would say a silent prayer and would go for it, hoping for the softness, and always as it went- I was encompassed gently by the water. The same goes for love and that safe place to land. Sometimes one has to feel, trust, know the unknown- and the softness which should embody everything upon landing. I just love you Mirage, and I hope you share more of your diary entries. It's like sitting among an enchanted camp fire taking turns speaking- embers and sparks crackling, crickets singing, magic spinning in the air- and you- other worldly brave with knowledge, experience, and love -stay clock wise turning. Sorry. It goes both ways. Sometimes, a thread gets a lot of responses, and people want to stop the notifications. IP: Logged |
