Hello my fellow minstrels, poets and artists!

I thought I was start a thread dedicated to the literary works and music that have motivated & touched me over the years. Please feel free to share your own as well!

GHOST SONG
Awake
Shake dreams from your hair
My pretty child, my sweet one.
Choose the day and
choose the sign of your day
The day’s divinity
First thing you see.
A vast radiant beach
in a cool jeweled moon

Couples naked race down by it’s quiet side
And we laugh like soft, mad children
Smug in the woolly cotton brains of infancy

The music and voices are all around us.

Choose, they croon, the Ancient Ones
The time has come again
Choose now, they croon,
Beneath the moon
Beside an ancient lake
Enter again the sweet forest
Enter the hot dream

Come with us
Everything is broken up and dances.
Indians scattered on
Dawn's highway bleeding,
Ghosts crowd the young child's
Fragile egg-shell mind.

I consider Jim Morrison to be one of my most prominent spiritual guides. I truly love and adore each piece he has ever written, even though I only discovered The Doors a month or two ago. <3

Lol yes ! Within the last two years I completely branched off musically from what I grew up with (metal, death, hard rock).

I turned to old blues & grassroots, which eventually lead to stuff from the 60's. I started dating someone who's favorite band was the Doors, but they still didn't click till recently.

You might consider having your own website first, on which to publish and protect your works.

Pearlty, our Moderator, has one.
She has published several of her books of poems.

Invest what would be only "a small sum of money" NOW (in comparison to later), looking into having a 'consult' with an Intellectual Property (and Entertainment field) attorney...

Do this especially since you plan on being in public as a composer-performer of your work.

You are still young, and not out in the too-public venues yet.

Get the legal counsel now, and some good advice for music-business management.

DO the groundwork NOW, to lay a good foundation and trajectory for your future.

After you consult with attorney, and set up a website for yourself (if you choose to), THEN, consider sharing pieces (if you want feedback) at LL. I would not use this site as the repository for your work. ... You can share 'some' things, and leave a link to your repository?

A Woman (especially) needs to protect herself Economically-financially.

This was very sound and critical advice, I very much appreciate your insight!

I am a private contractor, so at the moment I am currently developing a website for my company, but for myself as well. I am extraordinarily low funds right now, so I am trying to apply for help. The city art council here expressed major interest in helping me obtain grants.

So I have taken the first initial steps, However, due to the fact that I haven't shared my work with many other people aside from close friends/family, I figured I would see how my well my writing would go over with a public, non-bias audience.

I am fortunate though to know many musicians and a few published writers, but I am still far too new to the professional industry.

I have been slowly consulting others on which avenues to take, but clearly I need to take things a bit more seriously and crank it up a notch! I have a really great lawyer, I am not sure if he deals with these things, but I will talk to him!

I'm willing to take down above posts so that you could have a homogeneous thread of your own Collected works, btw. Just say the word.
