A tiny spark emerged From out of nowhere Stomped out repeatedly First by her And then by me But it refused to flicker out It grew into a flame We fanned the flame She and I Until it consumed away Both our walls I was covered in gasoline And I loved it Like a raging forest fire It burned a permanent trail Across the terrain of my heart But, alas, it burned so quickly And so fiercely That it burned itself out And now... I sift through the ashes Frantic, so frantic Almost desperate Looking for something... Anything... To keep, to hold on to, to cherish But nothing remains There's nothing left but ash I bring my soot-covered hands To my face And I weep And though I'm now left with nothing But charred memories And although I am empty inside I wouldn't have changed a thing Or missed it for the world.IP: Logged |
