I suppose
it’s a fair price to pay
for my failure to mention
that stepped-on bouquet
of Honorine Jobert anemones.
But it’s priceless just saying goodnight,
and what’s left
will fit
just right

Thanks/sorry... I tend to drop things like that; life doesn’t really allow for a whole lot of screen time right now. I did mean to reply/ add context:
I’d spent that afternoon helping tidy up the gardens around my mom’s church, and got to take home a big bouquet of anemones that were flopping all over the walkway. My ex was watching the kids while I did this; afterward he was ‘helping’ me load up the car, knocked over the bucket of flowers, stepped all over them, and as I’m trying to gather up the salvageable ones he says “I left some cash in the glove compartment” and walks away. So no, not heartbroken, more of an ironic “bless his little heart, I know he tries.”
But it’s okay— I also got to take home some bitty baby plants that were growing right in the middle of the path, so maybe I’ll have them blooming here in my own yard next year.(And the link to the flower url was lovely! I assumed it was more for the benefit of people who didn’t already know what they looked like.) Edit— Now that I’ve noticed it bothered you enough to make the same comment elsewhere — you’re right, a ‘thanks for showing interest’ wouldn’t have hurt. IP: Logged |

My favorite is an old Noxcema bottle I found in the woods... early 20th century trash heaps are treasure! (It’s all good... I tell people all the time that screen time should never feel obligatory, and proudly live by it, that’s all.)
Maybe this can be the place people come to drop “Bless your little heart” anecdotes as necessary...IP: Logged |
