A while ago Aselzion began a thread about the Tarot card, the High Priestess. At some point, the discussion wandered around to the concepts of Nexus and Plexus (Henry Miller notwithstanding). I promised to explore those further, so here we go:

If I had a dictionary handy, the definition of Nexus would be something like: a connected group…or perhaps, many individuals linked as one. Speaking esoterically then, the Nexus is that place where we are all one…the spot where separation does not exist…the embrace of God…the land beyond dreams. We get glimpses of the Nexus in dreams, in visions, in moments of enlightenment or satori, in flashes of the infinite. It is the home of the spirit. As many people have discussed in various other threads, the body is only a cloak, a costume, for our part in the great play of life. To use another analogy, our soul is the driver and our body is the car. The physical world is the home of our bodies and the Nexus is the home of our soul.

So here we are on vacation…on this lovely field trip into matter and how it would be if we were humans. But, as often happens when a bunch of youngsters get together at camp, we have almost forgotten what it is like to live at home. Our whole world revolves around surviving here, in the wilderness, at camp.

But we have not forgotten our home entirely. We always carry it with us in our hearts. We have left ourselves places and clues that direct us home and remind us of who we really are. This is Plexus.

If you looked up Plexus in the dictionary…and believe me, I wish I had old Daniel Webster here right now, the definition would be something like: a completely interlinked collection of parts…or a network, like the network of blood vessels in your body.

So the Nexus is the whole and we are the parts and the Plexus is our network of connections to the whole (Nexus). The Plexus gives us access to the Nexus, the oneness that dwells within us all.

In our previous discussion about the High Priestess, the following was said:
Druids believe in an Otherworld, Avalon, where life is perfect, and united with the Spiritual. The High Priestess brings down a mist and manifests a passage to Avalon, but this mystical land cannot be found by ordinary folk. The two realms are interwoven with one another, with joined destinies, and are called the "Nexus." The idea is that the worlds overlap in certain places and times, which are sacred. This seeping through occurs at the sea shore, where land meets sea, dusk and dawn, where night meets day, the Equinoxes, where summer meets winter, and other places. Such a place is called a "Plexus," and is an opportunity to commune with the otherworld.

So the High Priestess is the Plexus within the Tarot that encourages us to meld the spiritual and unconscious with the physical and conscious.

I love those places of Plexus…beaches, the state between waking and sleep, astral travel times, meditation states, the ancient days of power, dusk and dawn, any transition time. I was born at a Plexus time. It is then the veil is thinnest. And once you have looked beyond the veil often enough, you can find your way to the nearest access point quickly and accurately. To use yet another analogy, you don’t need a street map to find your way to work every day. You pretty much know where you’re going and even if you get off your regular route, you can jump back on easily enough under most circumstances.

Somehow there is a thread through the human psyche telling us that the summer is almost over and camp is coming to an end. Our home in the Nexus calls to us. We have had a great time even though it rained a lot and our knees got scraped. Think of it…we learned to swim, we found we can get along with others who are different from ourselves, we discovered teamwork and stories around the camp fire and the way the dew looks on the meadow at dawn. We saw the stars and danced together for the sheer joy of it. Sure, some people got a little crazy and tried to get gangs together and such, but lots of us almost think camp should never end. Our mouths cry out, “We don’t want to go home!” Yet deep in our hearts, we are somehow ready to move on. Soft feather beds and nights around the fire, talking with our friends and families, laughing about summer adventures gone by and those yet to come.

The Nexus calls and we all begin to move slowly to the highways of the Plexus that will lead us home. We seek them, are drawn to them. These highways of the Plexus are the paths of the Quabalah’s Tree of Life, sometimes represented to us as the cards of the Major Arcana of the Tarot, or the transits of the Zodiac, or The Tenfold Path to Enlightenment, or the examples of Jesus or Buddha or Mohammad, or as lucid dreams, or as demonstrated on many other maps. But once we are on the road, we realize we don’t really need a map at all…we have been this way so many times we know it by heart. All roads lead home.

Sorry this turned out to be so long. I cut tons of stuff out to get it to this length. It is hard to work through such concepts in 25 words or less. Is anyone else interested in the Nexus and Plexus archsymbols?

Well OK…here we are, happy campers of humanity feeling the call of home and headed that way.

First we have to understand the nature of reality…of the Nexus. Everything…absolutely everything…is made up of almost unbelievably small items that we call electrons and protons and neutrons and photons plus space and energy and a few other really tiny things. And if we looked to even smaller units, we would eventually find just energy. That is Zero Point energy, the energy of the Nexus, of our souls, of God. We are all it and there is no way for us not to be it.

Next lets look at a practical application. Linda (and many other philosophers) talked a lot about immortality. This is where it gets complicated. I hope I can put this succinctly. To be truly immortal, you have to quit thinking of time as some kind of liner law. Time is just counting…pick a place for year one and go from there. Reality is much more complicated than that, what with all the tiny particles whirling around creating everything in this dimension. Nothing is truly linear, even rays of light. Energy can bend, blow up, or rearrange those particles. We are energy. Our minds are little creativity generators. Brain waves are measurable. So when you are experiencing the immortality of the Nexus, time sort of bends around you. You don’t have to worry about the government finding out or how to get new ID or any of the mundane matters. Time just eddies around like a current in an ocean. Once you learn to speed up vibrations, to access the Nexus, you are the fastest thing in the universe. I know, a lot of people will tell you that light is the fastest thing, but there is good evidence that thought is much faster. As we all know, Einstein proved that time slows as we approach the speed of light. Once you shoot past that speed in a beam of thought energy, time isn’t. You can live a lifetime in an instant and a thousand angels can dance on the head of a pin.

All the mysteries, all the rituals, all the meditations and chants and pathways, the Qabala, the Tarot, religious figures, everything and everyone related to the Path to Enlightenment, are trying to show you the secret. And here it is…You don’t have to learn how to use your brain to manipulate all the tiny particles around you. You have to learn that you ALREADY ARE using your brain to manipulate all the tiny particles around you.

………Join us next time when we get the word…if you campers are creating your own reality, then get this mess cleaned up before your parents see it.

Thanks FishKitten, for directing me to this discussion. I'm at work, so will re-read and better digest it all later.

You've beautifully articulated many things I've thought about...

I have to visit this forum more often.

Yeah, same, answers many unasked questions. How about stuff like what was before time? How do entangled particles communicate, or indeed, how do quantum particles know that they will absorb a photon? I son't expect you to know these answers, just curous what you might say

Aselzion...the WORD for today is RELAX. I'm going to soak up some wandering on the beach.

Dean...since time is an illusion that humans have created in our own minds to help explain the linear appearance of physical reality, things were exactly the same before time as they are now. The only difference was that people weren't counting hour by hour, year by year.

Tiny particles "communicate" via the cohesive joining energy that keeps all atoms, molecules, and universes spinning. Depending who you ask, this energy is called Zero Point Energy, creation energy, the Mind of God, and several other names.

Photons...there are so many wonderful things about photons. For one thing, they act as both a particle and a wave at the same time, which is very cool in physics circles. One of the most amazing things about photons is their discovery. Einstein discovered them about 100 years ago even though there was no way for him to see them individually. That dude was deep. I studied Archaeological Physics under a brilliant man who once worked in Neils Boer's laboratory. Later he was one of the two scientists involved in the invention of AMS (Atomic Mass Spectronomy) procedures, which is what makes Carbon 14 (radioicarbon) dating work. I don't completely understand your question about particles absorbing photons. Could you elaborate?

Xelena Ben...the only physics readings I dealt with were text books and scientific articles along with work in the classroom. I'll see ask some of the physicists that I know if there is anything out there directed toward the layman. Are you specifically interested in Physics directed at Archaeology or general Quantum Physics?

that's okay, fishkitten, if you don't have any to recommend off the top of your head - no need to ask around, but i appreciate the offer. i just like to get a personal rec from folks who are on the same wavelength whenever i get the chance.

did you check out the link in free-for-all about the new movie "What the Bleep"? looks really cool, and they have a host of book recommendations. think i'll start there!

Fishkitten,

You blow my mind away!!! So knowledgable!
If it is not inappropiate, could you toot your horn for me. I want to know more about how you came "To Be"! What was and is your life like? And what do you do for a "living"?
You are very wise and I am humbled.

What? There's no "Quantum Physics for Dummies" book yet???

Actually, I can recommend a book. "Taking the Quantum Leap, The New Physics for Non-Scientists," by Fred Alan Wolf. I bought it years ago, but only flipped through it. Shame on me. It's like buying a Stephen Hawking book. You love it. You flip through it sometimes, oooh and aahh a bit. But you never actually read it.

Yes, FishKitten is one smart cookie, ain't she? She definitely rocks.

Stephen Hawking's Black Holes and Baby Universes is a good primer. His other books are not for the layperson, though.

Ahh...you guys make a girl blush. Thanks for the kind words.

Philbird...I am an Archaeologist and Historian. I also write a lot and have recently been earning a living primarily from writing documentaries for TV. That said, I've done all kinds of things. I taught High School (grades 10 - 12) for a while. Then I taught and counseled the blind and visually impaired. At that point, even though most of the people in my life told me to settle down and raise my son like a person with good sense, I sold my house and gave away everything I owned and pretty much hit the road. Since then, I have been a staff writer for several newspapers (7 to be exact), travelled around to a variety of archaeological digs and historic sites, studied extensively into what I like to call "the Mysteries of the Universe", spent a "non-academic" summer directing traffic on a lonely dirt highway in the remote interior of BC (sometimes only 4 cars per day), taught a couple of university classes, raised a son and step-son, travelled some more, went back to University a for a couple of years (2000 - 2002) while I was working at an archaeological lab to make sure I was up on all the latest archaeological finds and facts, lived in a remote cabin in the mountains with no electricity or indoor plumbing, and lots more stuff. I usually follow whatever intrigues me at the moment. I recently had a visit from a woman I have known for about 35 years. Her characterization of me was "All you ever needed was an out of date map with the important part missing for you to give away everything you own except what fits in your car and hit the road." Pretty acurate. SO very interesting and fun. Really anyone can do it, though, if they want to. Linda Goodman really helped. She always said follow what you love and that is what I have done. I think it is great advice. Many people feel trapped and unfulfilled by the jobs and lives they have, but are too afraid to just throw it all aside. You know, Jesus put out the same message. When asked what a person should do, he said "Give all you have to the poor and follow me" and told people that the Kingdom of God was within all of us. (All this I do, you can do also.) It works like a charm. Once you give away the posessions that are holding you back, you have nothing left to trap you into any certain role or job. Admittedly, however, I did have a good university education when I began this adventure, so it was never the least bit hard for me to find work when or where I wanted it. I think the important part is doing what you love. Then, even if you don't get rich, you have spent your life doing what you love most. Can't go wrong there.

I recommend "QED: The Strange Theory of Light and Matter" by Richard Feynmann - the inventor of the Feynmann diagrams which revolutionised how we understand QED (Quantum Electrodynamics). It can also be used for quarks - i.e. both the strong and weak nuclear forces. My question regards these diagrams. The electron moves along and somehow knows another electron has approached to send off a photon and hence shifts velocity. The other electron absorbs the photon and also changes velocity - hence like particles repel. This is all well and good, but how do they know they're their? Likewise quantum chromodynamics - the strong nuclear force in quarks. Fascinating. Anything by Feynmann is awesome. His "Six simple peices" is great too.

Fishkitten...if you're around I'm very curious if you can elaborate to me what you mean by picking year one when one want to move into immorality.

I read everything you wrote as I find your experiences and way of explaining things resonate with me. You are very well loved here and I can see why. I would love to privately exchange emails with you but I don't know how to go about that.

I did have interest in archaeology as I love cultures immensely. However my interests are so varied that I have a hard time being an expert in anything as you are in archaeology.

Your experiences with astral traveling/time traveling is very fascinating because I may have a knack for it as a child and may have lost my way. I want to do a lot of what you do but feels I'm held back somehow.

Also it's great you have a life partner that supports your idiosyncrasies and understands you. It's a beautiful thing to have.

Anyhow, I hope to hear from you.
