Past, present, future (respectively left to right)

or

Thesis (pros of the situation), synthesis (outcome), antithesis (cons/opposing forces)

I have been told that each of these ways is the proper way to do it, but I am unsure of which is correct. Thank you for your help!

1= past

2= present

3= future

just waht you said. Now the other, I've seen it more often like:
3
1 2

1 =what you don't know
2 =what you do know
3 =synthesis

there's scores of three card spreads, the only big rule is not to change the position meanings after you deal the cards.

now, where did I put it?
