The Iguana lizard is used as a symbol for primitive human emotions. The color green is used to set the emotional tone for describing obsessions and illusionary transformations along with actions of self shedding like a lizard.

****************

Native American and Celtic shamanistic beliefs are strong on animal symbols. These symbols are referred to as "totem animals" or "power animals." You'll often hear the two referred to synonymously, but those that follow traditional Native beliefs explain that a totem animal is one that is with you for life, often an animal with whom you share a connection, either through interest in the animal or your resemblance to or shared characteristics of the animal in question. A power animal or spirit animal is a spirit in animal form that comes through with a specific lesson for you, and will change throughout the course of your life.

If you've been receiving symbolism of an animal during meditations or dreams, the message below may help you to pinpoint the purpose of the creature's appearance.

Iguana: Patience, understanding

Read "Day 4" of the 20 days

*******************

Mayan priests have explained that the twenty names are not just random emblems, but rather that they represent 20 steps taken in the journey of life. Each day represents one day in life on which an important milestone event occurs. That again is consistent with the Sacred Round being a divine calendar because life is the work and glory of God. Some of the symbols have very clear meanings as given by the priests but others are cloaked in mystery and probably refer to sacred ordinances. Only a few are necessary to understand for our purposes here.

Said to represent the day on which a child is first allowed to be tempted by evil. Again this glyph is often called Lizard or Iguana, and those animals also typify the concept.

Iguana
To see an iguana in your dream, represents harshness, cold-heartedness, fierceness, and inhuman poise. It is an indication of both hostility and unstoppable determination. The iguana may remind you of someone or some situation in your waking life that you find frightening yet awe inspiring.

Hope this helps?

The iguana turned up in a reading my husband was having with a spiritualist. It was very prominent. and neither he or the reader could figure out why. I am going to look into all the info you gave here with him to see if we can figure what the meaning is in his life. Thank You

Hey Nattie, I see you already got a good response to your iguana question, but I felt the need to add to it a bit...I've found a wonderful way to interpret symbolism is to describe the object/person/situation as if you were trying to explain it to someone who had no idea what you were talking about. As if they were from another planet. Then, listen (or read, if you choose to write it down) to what you come up with, you'd be surprised! This tends to give you a more personalized meaning. How does your husband feel about iguanas? How would he describe one both physically and/or characteristic- ally? Once you have your answer, look around yourself and see if anything else ie, person, situation shares those same characteristics. It may be about that person/situation. On the very simplest level, the iguana may be his totem. In which case he may have to develop the characteristics associated with the iguana. Hope this helps a bit...
Peace & Blessings
Mark

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll
