Well the knight of wands would indicate that such a change is inevitable...if this is the big change it was referring to, i'd say for a cancer, moving homes is an extremely significant event.IP: Logged |

Yes, moving is a BIG deal. We are only talking about it. Nothing set in stone. We talk about it every year when we return from Daytona.

You have the chariot in your reading here blue, do you think at some level you know that this move must come, regardless of how much you resist it?The tarot suggests that now this perhaps may just be a dream, that you are too consumed otherwise to deal with the thought of it, but I see here that it will bring about a great evolution for you, the fool implies a great awakening, and innocence, a rebirth of spirit, should you go on the chariot and make this move. Your taurus here is represented by the empress, is it his finances that will enable this move to take place? This card also might suggest your current physical comfort level with where you are now, but believe me the chariot is a powerful card, this choice will come, you may languish a bit. I believe you want this change, but perhaps you are afraid to leave your son. I do believe it is for the best. The fool guarantees your independence and innocence should you make this change, and also your security. use the power of the chariot to look into yourself, really listen to your heart on this matter, this requires a meditative state. The chariot is the dynamic side of cancer, the side the moves, acts, communicates, it represents emotions in motion. For you, everything is about how you FEEL, and this reading suggests that if you do not open your eyes and see your reality for what it really is, you will stagnate and continue to feel that distaste, that disgust that is bubbling away in your psyche, you must awake, like t he fool, to a new reality. The chariot does not wait forever BM, make sure you take it when it appears. IP: Logged |

I've been using the Thoth deck for a while........still having trouble translating over from the standard Tarot, which I believe Aselzion is something that you've outlined....perhaps I can become adept in both someday, but it is a challenge The classic tarot images are much easier to interpret, and the thoth cards are all "named" which kind of takes away from the reading imo.

Greetings...Blue... Tha names of the cards in the Thoth deck are based on the work of the Golden Dawn, of which A.E. Waite, Paul Foster Case and Aleister Crowley were all members (or more). There was a text circulated amongst that order that outlined their system of Tarot and it's relation to Qabalah and Astrology. I believe it was in a manuscript entitled Liber T. But it's been a while since I looked over the Golden Dawn materials. You can really disregard those names, but I found myself trying to visualize or "translate" from the decks with which I was more familiar. At that time I had been accustomed to working with the Rider-Waite deck as well as the Morgan-Greer deck, which are really very similar. Some people love the visual appeal of the Thoth deck, but it's colors are a bit muted for my tastes and it's images.. I think I want to use the word primitive.. but it reflects more the style than the content. As ever, I always try to find what talks to me and stick with that. But if you stick with it, work with it... and touch them as often as you can, I am sure you will succeed. Bright Blessings... Thanks Aselzion...I think for now it would be better to focus on the standard tarot, and I will return to the Thoth when I have a firmer grasp on the basics. I've been pulling thoth readings then lining up the corresponding standard tarot cards to make the assocation..its a lot of work you know! I will look into the decks you mentioned, I do not like my current standard tarot deck, the pink backs alone are hideous enough to turn me off!! I hope you enjoying all this lovely snow Aselzion, I know I am here in eastern mass. IP: Logged |

What do you think is a good deck, Aselzion, for someone who likes art that is a bit on the abstract/ethereal side...but still wants standard tarot depictions. Also I may have asked this...but what are you favorite reference books for tarot?? liek what is a really comprehensive guide that you think everyone should own... Greetings Blue...The snow.. I love when it is white and clean. In terms of reference books I go to when I need another opinion or some food for thought: For Spiritual Tarot: Tarot: Key to the Wisdom of the Ages by Paul Foster Case.. pretty much anything by PFC is worth a look and a long thought, imho. For more mundane matters: The Everything Tarot Book was fairly online, Tarot: The Method to its Magic; anything by Eden Gray, Connolly's Tarot books were also good, though I don't buy into her Astrological associations. Where in Eastern MA are you? Living here or visiting? Perhaps we should abracadabra a fireside chat and a nice cup of Chai Tea sometime soon. Blessings... P.S.Blue... Sorry, I missed the question about the Tarot decks.. Personally I always recommend the Morgan-Greer to beginners or the Rider Waite, but the flat colors in the Rider deck don't do alot for me personally. The Rider Waite deck was the first deck to have picture images for all of the Lower Arcana cards. Prior to this deck, only the Higher Arcana were picture images.. and of course the Court cards. If you are comfortable with Astrology, you might enjoy The Cosmic Tarot. If you like art nouveau, there is an Art Nouveau Tarot. There are many, many decks out there... as I say, perhaps the best way is to hit a new age store and look at all their sample decks, then you get to try before you buy, as it were! In the Light... Illustrated by Antonella Castelli, who also did the Tarot Art Nouveau, it has a similar feel with its border of Celtic knotwork, though it has 78 fully illustrated cards. http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/sorcerers/index.shtml#cards the llewellyn tarot http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/llewellyn/index.shtml the sacred circle http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/sacred-circle/index.shtml IP: Logged |

i like tha Gilded Tarot when I get to use them. I do not yet own a deck. They give a good clean classic feeling and a sense of elegant beauty, don't you think? my old rider-waite is a staple and when I am moving quick i use it as I am so used to it. I acquired a Connolly deck recently and enjoy using it. On-Line I like the Voodoo Tarot! i don't know why-I think it is so exotic! i can "hear" drums and stuff when I use it. I always consider using it when I want the straight truth with no sugar coating-haha- The Thoth Deck I have heard is very good and a little complicated. i have never touched a deck. Since i was little everytime I touched a Crowly book or was near one I would suffer from intense nasuea and the runs! When I finally read one i immediately began to have entities around my house and 3:33AM wake ups to eerie things. Somebody pull a card for me from their favorite deck? What is facing me in a personal relationship over the next few months. The King of Swords is connected to me concerning this- Beggingly with no wine-Tuxedo MeowIP: Logged |
