I always saw it as a positive card, but on another board at least one person described it as more of a polyamorous card - due to the pentacles being earthy, and their linking the earth more to "intimacy". I don't know how to feel about that, and haven't asked about someone's feelings in a long time. IP: Logged |

Hi  Depends again. If in a relationship I see it as quite positive, wanting to build on that life together (depends also on the other cards present).
But it can also represent someone feeling the other is working hard on their life, stepping up (so it ends up as more 'how they see the person') & it often comes up if the two people (love interest) actually work together.
Since it's pentacles the good news is that it's 'solid', but it's just not that romantic. But there's definitely the base and connection to take it further. The people have a click.
It's not really my personal 'third party' card. Only if there are also other indicators. Hope that helps. IP: Logged |

Hey Twirl, Hope you are doing good and life is treating you well Yeah it sure helps, I read it the same way actually.It's a card that has been popping up a lot recently.I ,also don't view it as a third party card but as teasel mentioned there are readers who do and I was curious to know people's views here. To me personally, I look at the 3 of pentacles as WANTING to work on a relationship,establishing a solid base/foundation on which to build a relationship while the 8 of pentacles is working TOO HARD on a relationship that's probably too uneven,probably one person is holding back and the other working too hard. What do you think Twirl? what are your thoughts and experience on those 2 cards on the romantic front kinda of questions? IP: Logged |

Hmmmm....the 8 of pents I like...I don't think it's working too hard, I think that it relates more to a couple that knows each other well or has been around each other for some time and they want to make their relationship work. IP: Logged |

Hi All well, hope the same there. I agree with LC. I see it as willing to put the work in it/working on the relationship to keep it healthy (sustain the relationship), putting the effort in and that can be hard work. But more often I see if as the other person mainly being busy with work/study, so then he/she is just not thinking/feeling for the other, but busy with those projects.

Doing okay Twirl thanks The 8 of pentacles doesn't come to me as exclusively being busy at work.But like I said,it is an interesting take,since it's a pentacle card we normally assign a 'working' nature to it,but it could well have nothing to do with a work environment and such. I've pulled this card frequently in readings about someone who gives a lot of themselves to a person who probably doesn't deserve their time and effort. IP: Logged |

I used to see it as someone willing to work on things - wanting to - most of the time, but not all. I stopped keeping a tarot journal at the end of 2009, and really wish that I hadn't. I miss it. IP: Logged |

Perhaps you can mix the existing & your personal impressions? That way it can perhaps help you with getting a very personal connection with your decks. And if that what it means to you, then it is. If it's just hard work done by one, I would expect other cards to show up to support that though. Or it shows the other party in fact is busier with his own life & not so much with the other on a romantic level/not that into him/her. Ps: I don't see pentacles as just work. I see all the 3's in the tarot as movement. So for this, I see as things in the person's life in movement to happen the feelings, as doing little things (buying things, cooking, writing...) as I see the Pentacles as a reunion of the other elements, bringing emotions (Cups), Thinking (swords) and will/spirit (Wands) into the material world..
