In other words, how important is the role played by the reader when pulling cards or will the universe provide answers regardless. Many readers observe rituals to help focus - so do these yield better results? The reader's role, i.e, their experience and intuition, is very important for interpretations of course.

I ask because I often wonder if I pulled with the right degree of concentration and whether I should try again.

i go just with whatever feels natural and i've picked up cards and i don't even know what it is but i put it aside because i know that is definitely not it.

i also find i overthink when i choose and its usually then when i'm least accurate. so sometimes i even play music in the back group so i go off more instinct and gut rather than try to analyse the instinct and gut feelings

I think the cards always say something true, but the ability to read them correctly is impaired in intense emotional states.

Also, some people with strong opinions (when we have a strong opinion about something)tend to pull cards reflecting their opinions rather than the actual matter. Or interpret them accordingly.

Ok, that is two opposing viewpoints. Would love to hear what others think. I suspect newbies would worry more about or try harder to pull 'authentic' cards.

I have another theory. Some people are being supported in their role as readers by the universe, you could say by the cards themselves. Perhaps these people have a role to play in helping others or have intuitive qualities. What do you think?

A thought! I wonder if we could use a tarot spread to show our particular talents as readers, if at all. A bit circular this but I am gonna try:

Temperance, page of cups, king of cups
Well, nice cards ...what could they mean ...
Temperance is about connection, perhaps helping people to connect to a higher source...

I always try to pull cards with a clear unbiased opinion about the situation (whether it's regarding myself or a reading for others.). I do the best I can to completely clear my mind, not necessarily concentrate, just clear it. That's when I tend to have the most accurate answers. I have also noticed that if I have a question lingering in the back of mind (whether consciously or unconsciously) the cards will answer THAT question instead of the one I am asking about at the moment which is why I have found my mind needs to be completely clear before asking my cards questions.

I've often felt this too. In fact, I may have given readings that actually referred to me. The reader's clarity and focus does have an impact! On the other hand, I have at times experienced getting very accurate cards when I was not focusing. These were in response to personal concerns. I pulled cards absent mindedly and was amazed to see the answer provided. I have heard that if they need to your guides will get a message through in whichever way possible.
