I need some guidance please . I have been trying to understand and practice tarot lately but I'm not quit understanding how to read them. I am using the Sacred Circle tarot deck. It came with a book but all the book talks about is what the cards general meaning is and how to do some spreads, so it's not all that helpful. My questions are; How do you get a meaning out of a card? Like, how do you know a certain card is telling you yes or no to a question or how the card relates in terms of money, love, wealth, career, health, timing, person etc.? I also find when I'm reading that some cards seem to being answering other questions. For example, in a spread, card 1 represents this card 2 that and so on but I find that sometimes card 2 seems to be answering for card 4's representation and 4's answering 2's. Does that make any sense? Are there different decks for different types of questions? I don't know if what I have is the best for someone starting out. What is the best deck for beginners? Do you know of any websites or books that might better help me understand what the cards are trying to tell me? How long did it take you to get the hang of tarot? I know everyone is different but I'm just curious. Any and all advice is welcomed .

I'm still in the process of learning more about and from my cards. A really great book that I recommend is Nancy Garen's Tarot Made Easy. Before doing a reading, it's really beneficial to make sure that your mind is absolutely clear and you aren't thinking of multiple things. Personally, I feel that whatever is going on in your head is transferred to the cards while you're shuffling them. If there's something specific you want to do card readings for then it's best to make sure that whatever you're reading about is the only thing going on in your head. In regards to learning what the cards actually mean, there's an exercise I used to do where at night I would shuffle the deck and draw just one card while clearing my head. I would write down an analysis of how it made me feel, what the images on the card portrayed and what the actual meaning of the card is after I analysed the first two things. After jotting down those three things I would try to see how the card related to how my day was. A good website I recommend is http://tarot-theroyalroad.blogspot.com, I find it very informative. As for choosing the best deck to work with, go with something that you intuitively feel inside you is the right one, for me I can usually tell when I touch them.

Yeah, I think that might be what the problem is. I didn't really clear my mind when asking a question so that is probably why I wasn't getting the right answers to the question, that and I just can't seem to connect with these cards. I am going to check out the website and the book you recommended. I like that idea with the card exercise you did, I am going to start doing that! Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it!
