I was wondering if anyone else thinks this card is generally looked upon too negatively?

Of course there are negatives to this card, like with any other, but i just feel that swords seem to be interpreted as being more negatively than any of the other suits in books/websites etc... Why?

Hi VG
I think it's a cartomancy inheritance in Tarot (swords clubs are the dark energy, the negatives, hearts and diamonds the good stuff) and is it pretty much similar to the debate hard aspects vs soft aspects. A more dichotomic view on good and evil, heaven and hell we inherit from the past, which I think it is a outdated in its previous form. Tarot is taking a step further actually, and it refines the cartomancy black and white, or shall I say red What I like to say, when it comes to cards, is that what matters is the sentence, and the negative cards are like the negation in a sentence. But they all have positive meanings in a certain context, including the 7 of sw. It is true however, that we do need these "no"s to understand the path, and clearly some questions would receive a negative, or a no answer, and we do need a negative/positive system in order to be able to make sentences.

If you give me a little context, I could give an opinion about what the 7 of sw could possibly mean in this context.

Thanks Leeloo, there is an example that comes to mind, i dont really think it is good to ask such a question but it is one that comes to mind;

"Is X cheating on Y"

The 7 of swords is pulled. I read this card is associated with deceit but in this case i wouldnt necessarily interpret it as yes they are cheating. As its a yes/no question i might interpret it as no they arent but there is a lack of trust and you need to both work on bringing balance(7) to the thinking(swords) on this or something along those lines. So it is a good advice. You know what i mean?

Pls dnt quote might edit later

Hi VG that's the problem with such a question, the double negation that's why I would ask if X is faithful to Y, and not the other way around. Otherwise, 7 of sw is actually seen as the card of cheating (because of the sneaky thief), so it could be a yes to that, I'm afraid.

Thanks Leeloo, yes/nos are tough ones Maybe i didnt use the best example there, but my point was i think cards such as 7 swords, all have positives to them, they can be just as positive as any other.

Thanks alot

Great question!

Leeloo, I agree with how we work our questions....very good point you make. I need to remember not to add my own negativity to a question.

Vacant: I am very curious about the positivity of 7 SW....I get this card A LOT but always reversed.....how would you interpret this?
