Hi, I did a New Moon Manifesting spread and I got the 5 of Swords in the Star Potential position. It's exciting because really my whole life is about working with challenging energies, but I can't find a starting point with the concept of the 5 of Swords. I searched online and found it is related to Aquarius. That's fitting since the spread is for the Aqua New Moon. But it confuses me even more that a card related to a sign I consider so positive has such an imbalance of negative interpretations.

Can those of you with more knowledge and experience please shed some light and offer some ideas? Thank you!!

The rest of the spread for context:

1. You Are Here- Queen of Swords
2. Mental Shifts- Six of Wands
3. Spiritual Gifts- Ten of Pentacles
4. Co-create This- The Empress
5. Ask For Help Receiving This- Two of Pentacles
6. Star Potential- Five of Swords

I found this spread at http://www.newagehipster.co/blog/2015/11/11/new-moon-manifesting-spread

Not sure if this helps, but I`ve had 5 of swords come up actually in positive situations, or let`s say the process was exhausting but leading to positive conclusions.

In These contexts it usually depicted very blunt straightforward talks, not always pleasant, but very very honestly discussing a matter, which then was leading to a monumental Change in communication and/ or behaviour.

As I said not sure this helps.

(of Course it usually Comes up for Arguments, also mental abuse at times, and mostly about fierce competition with a losing and a winning Party, too)

Yes it is helpful Ceridwen. I'm using the Witch's Tarot deck

I don't know why when I upload images from my phone tinypic rotates them.

Editing in 2/3 the whole spread with clarifiers (for clarifiers 1 is too few and sometimes 3 seems like too many, but for some reason an even number of clarifying cards does not work for me)

--------------------------------------------
studying the card led me to looking up the symbolic meaning of the dragonfly and the number 5. Very briefly, the number five is about finding new ways of doing things, independence and individuality. Both the number 5 and dragonflies represent change and adaptability. And swords are about thoughts and one of my favorite readers refers to swords as a process, like you mentioned above.

Thank you! If you think of anything more please don't hesitate.

I am going to edit in different key words and ideas as I come across them from other readers- negative and positive.

Perform- I like this one because for me it relates to Leo, and I know that if this card is related to Aqua, then the easiest way I understand aqua on a deep level is through Leo..kind of weird.

Achieve-

Steal energy from others-

The human consciousness that we want to change-

Forcing ourselves to perform in a manner that is not common for us or not in our highest interest

Work and pressure- here Ill note that for maybe 14 years I have been working solo, or for myself (self-employed). I picked up a part time gig that has taken more of my attention and energy than expected or wanted really, but there are many reasons I haven't left yet. Sometimes I can see that I am one of a few people in the place who can make the necessary changes. Without even committing to make those changes in my own mind, I found myself in a position where I could nit side-step confronting the perpetrator of many of the problems- the general manager and my boss.

5's are turning points, and the picture on the 5 in my deck is someone holding up 3 swords and the other 2 on the ground. There are two people walking away in the background.

So for me the 5 swords can be about changing a thought process and letting go of things that no longer work in order to get to the calmer waters of the 6 swords.

pls dnt quote

Excellent. Thank you so much!
Do you mind if I copy paste your comment so I can kind of log it, but without your name?

If you look at the 4 of swords where the knight comes to contemplate his knighthood next to the place he will be buried and then at the 5 of swords it makes a lot of sense. The sword is picked up again, a new and renewed understanding of how to get the things that you want and why you are fighting in the first place. You go from contemplating your reasons for carrying the sword to putting it into action in a new way and subsequently defeating those you want to defeat.

It can be pretty positive.
