Since I recently started reading Gooberz again for the second time, I'm glad to participate in the discussion. The first time I read Canto One, I cried at the part where she emphasizes that the milk of a Goat saved the life of a Ram. It really touched my heart. I think because the Goat represented Saturn and she's always had such a hard time with Saturn and talks about him as such a stern, unyielding teacher, but I think she meant to convey that the Goat's milk saving her life represented the Saturninan kind of love that is powerful, eternal and life-giving. And that moved me in the exact same way that the beginning chapter of Peter Pan made me cry when the mother keeps getting pregnant and the father knows they can't afford it but keeps factoring it into his calculations and telling her that they can manage it.
