This topic has been interesting to me for a while now. I know there are lots of theories on this and lots of people say "It's dust on the lense" (although if that were true why would there be orbs in one picture and none in a picture taken right after it with the same camera?)

Amber,

I think the orbs are some sort of energy that is around you, or, in the space that you're in. Sometimes, it's a lot more than an orb. Have you ever seen the photos with the ghostly faces in them?

I have had people say that the orbs are caused by the energy between the people being photographed, or that they draw energy to them.

Maybe they are fairies.... ( a thought that literally just occured to me!!)

I like both SnowWhite's theory and WoodlandGnome's. Whatever the energies are, they've slowed down enough to be "caught on camera". Have the orbs always been in your pictures all your life or just recently? Are they in the ones that are taken of you and in the ones you've taken yours-elf? I noticed in the picture of Kian and the other girl, the orb is behind Kian... are you the one taking the pic? I think it could possibly be fairies or entities attracted to both you and Kian's energies. Them "showing" themselves in the pics could be their way of communicating "hey we're here, notice us... now you communicate back."

In the one with Kian and the other girl, yes I was taking the picture. I *think* the oldest picture I've found of myself with orbs in the picture were from the prom I went to which I think I posted above. I'm in a white dress with blonde hair. That was when I was about 16 or 17. .. so that must have been 1988 or 1989. I haven't looked in my childhood pictures yet.

I think Kian has a pic of her grandfather with an orb, though!

That would be interesting to find out about the possibility of orbs in earlier photos.

I have pictures with still orbs and pictures with orbs in motion. Streaks of light moving. Lots of them around my granddaughter. I often go to graveyards and ask permission of ghost to be photographed.
I find lots of orbs at family gatherings.
My daughter sent me pictures of my granddaughter and didn't even notice the numerous orbs and streaks around her. I had to point them out. I believe orbs to be an enery of someone who want to be nearby at that time. As for the graveyards, I get more orbs and streaks if I ask permission from the spirits. So, I do believe the energies come from persons no longer with us.

To be honest, they look like either chemical stains or overexposed spots, which can happen either as a result of unevenly distributed emulsion on the film, chemical stains from the negative processing solution (check the negs for the pictures use water and a q-tip if you see something where the orb is), a ray of light being reflected (& thereby overexposing a place).

As for dust, well dust tends to look a bit more substantial it'll be either black if it is on the negative or lense, or white if it is from the processing. If the dust is white, it will usually move between pictures. Either way its usually very solid whereas the orbs in your examples are translucent.

All the photos with me in them were taken at various times with my digital camera. The thing is that I have a series of photos taken with the same camera the same night and the orbs are not in them all.

Also the orbs do not show up in all photos taken with this camera (it is the same memory card so that cannot be used as an explanation either). Like I said, photos taken a minute, two minutes apart with the same lighting and the same conditions, will not have the same amount of orbs or even orbs at all. So something else must be the cause.

As for photographer... they have shown up in a couple photos that I took but more are in the photos where I am one of the subjects.

In the photo that Amber circled all the orbs, that photo was taken by just someone that we said "take this photo" lol.

I do have a photo of my Grandfather at about age 2 with a orb above his head. This is the grandfather that told me that his mother and grandmother used to communicate psychically with each other and with him, and used to participate in mystical things.

My friend May has had orbs show up in her photos, but seeing as she *is* a fairy it wouldn't surprise me that fairies appear in her pics.

Hmm Thats curious then. Mark and I both think they look like water stains on negatives, but when it comes to digital the both of us are total newbies.

Just thought id let you know .
When my Daughter and i visited Lindas old home in Carr ave last year the couple Janice and Rick showed us some pictures taken in the lounge with orbs in them.
I was impressed untill i took some pics myself (addmittedly in a house that has hundreds of years history) but when i showed them to my stepfather he said talcum powder can do the same thing and the thing was yalcum was all over this place..
