"Out on a Limb"... "Dancing in the Light"... anyone read any of Shirley MacLaine's captivating spiritual autobiographies? I'm re-reading them and in my time of tribulation right now, I'm finding great comfort. Would love feedback, LMB IP: Logged |

Yes, I've read those two but it's been a few years ago. My most recent Shirley book was "The Camino". I LOVE Shirley Maclaine.I think she is incredibly honest and brave. And I think she absolutely believes everything she writes. But.... This is ONLY a feeling with me but I feel like Shirley can be "duped" by those around her. Gullible is the word I'm looking for, I guess. But...I'd rather be gullible than cynical so like I said...I LOVE Shirley. I just wish I knew what she and Linda thought of each other as they had to run in the same circles. IP: Logged |

Hi LMB,I read all Shirley's books and I love her!!! I joined her website when she first started it a few years ago. www.shirleymaclaine.com She emails us regularly with updates. I haven't posted there in over a year and a half due to time contraints. I got to chat with her online when she was on the Oxygen site. I asked her if she knew Linda Goodman and she told me she did. But there were so many people popping questions at her, my next question about Linda got lost in the shuffle. I had wanted to know if they discussed metaphysical things together. Maybe one day I will find out. If you get a chance and haven't read it, I think The Camino would be a great book to read, as I was feeling a little down and sad when I read it and I felt uplifted when I finished it, actually during reading it. A great book. Donna IP: Logged |

Oh yes, The Camino - I LOVED it. It might be time for a re-read. Donna - you say Shirley and Linda knew each other??!! How wonderful and beautiful that is. It makes total sense, too. I had a feeling they did. I found "Going Within" one of the more difficult books to read, maybe because it was more "studious" than autobiographical. Mmeaning it spoke more of the specifics of auras and chakras, etc. and less on her life. But that was a long time ago and maybe that deserves a re-reading as well. I was on her site whenit first started as well. In fact - go to Pet Spirituality and then click on "Callie". I wrote that! Thanks for chatting with me. Love LMB p.s. my wonderful boyfriend bought me the 3 cassette video of Out on a Limb!!! IP: Logged |

I shoudln't be writing now b/c i'm at work but i just HAD to share. i'm reading "dancing in the light" right now and i'm at the part where Shirley is in New MExico at a past life acupuncturist where she gets all these images of her past life. And where she realizes she IS a part of God or the God-force out there. In "out on a limb" she stood by the ocean and shouted, "I am God"... it inspired me so much. today i'm walking around saying that to myself. oh the power and comfort!LMB IP: Logged |

Reading through "It's All in the Playing" -- where she talks about the experiences while they filmed "Out on a Limb." It's incredible. I know you might not know me very well but I just want to say that in this time in my life, as I'm grappling for any comfort that I can, re-reading Shirley's books is helping me tremendously. It's beyond explanation, really. I already knew there was more to the universe than just what we saw...oh i don't know. i wish we could still communicate through thought waves. it would be much easier. And Linda and Shirley knew each other. Quite. LMB IP: Logged |
