Watching a show about them on the Discovery Channel now.. it's a new show. Really interesting! Some of them are SO beautiful!!! What are everyone's thoughts on this? What causes them? ------------------ going somewhere ..ship is leaving right on time ..empty harbour, wave goodbye ..evacuation of the isle ..caveman's paintings drowning ..famous last words on the air ..i stay here and you are there ..while our city softly sinks IP: Logged |

Hmmm not sure about this one, have many crop circles been made across the world? What was the discovery channel saying caused them? I heard it was supposed to be aliens and then it was proclaimed a hoax, but you can't be too sure.IP: Logged |

I'm not sure how a person or people can be responible for them. Yes, I'm sure people do try and make 'hoax' crop circles but are proven to be hoax's. The real ones are quite intricate, not merely squashed but woven or bent at a certain angle. Also, when a hoax is comitted you can find places within the crops where these people have stood. Real crop circles show no such evidence. Also, who would comitt themselves to producing these circles year after year, country after country? Food for thought. IP: Logged |

Actually I got the idea from Linda...In StarSigns she talks about eidiphones and how certain frequencies make geometric patterns in sand. That always "stuck" with me. I know that some are man-made hoaxes so that people will think they are all hoaxes but they're not. But another interesting thing about this is that they go waaaay back in history. They are not new. So again....who is singing/cooking?? Hmmm....tastes just like chicken!! IP: Logged |

Being an artist, I've always thought that crop circles are great performance art - kind of like Christo but anonymous. I kept waiting for someone or some group to say they were in on it all along. But it's better and grander to be anonymous, eventually others join in. There is an art in being a copycat especially when it's globally or culturally related, so then why ever reveal your doing it. It becomes art on a mass consciousness level. It'similar to grafitti or petroglyphs. You find them everywhere around the world. I believe that many people are involved. Someone saw it somewhere, perhaps on TV then the part of themselves that likes to solve puzzles and mysteries kicked it. They figured out how to do it and then got a group together and had some fun. To me that's more exciting than the thought of UFO's. We humans can solve complex ideas and then take action.I saw a TV show many years ago which supposedly solved the mystery of crop circles. I must say that I agreed with them; much of what they said and showed confirmed ideas that I was thinking of. A group of art students, young guys, drew up a random plan of crop circles. Ironically their design had all sorts of mathematical coincidences. Then at night then went equipt with their plan, board with rope handles, rope, and measuring tape. They entered the field running down the corn row so as to not trample the corn that was not in the design. One person stood at the center of the circle. Then the others pressed the corn down from the center of the circle outward using the board with rope handles. The outer perimeter of the circle was measured using the rope pivoted from the center person like a giant protractor. They continued making circle until the entire project was done in a few hours. This process can be done individually, but I assume it would take more time. Recently, I saw an article of an Ohio farmer that was desparate to save his family farm. He intentionally created art in his field, flower vases etc. and made an elaborate maze for Halloween. My opinion--crop circles ---fun stuff made by humans! As to the long history- open an art history book and the first art you'll find are cave painting, some centuries later they are called petroglyphs, now its grafitti. Most artists are motivated by the same reasons someone paints on a wall; it's their skill level that sets them apart. I guess there are just some crop circle artists that are just better than others as well. Hence, it's done so well that it appears no human ever touched it. I think some have said God moved through Michelangelo when he painted the Sistine Chapel. IP: Logged |
