I'm curious if anyone here chants, and if you do, what kind of chanting do you do?With mercury going into retrograde I've been really feeling it this time around in negative ways so I've taken the advice of a really good yoga teacher - I'm not going to dread it or resist it, but take it as a chance to go inward, and let what happens on the outside world stay on the outside. It comes at a good time after the holidays, etc. - to get back inward and clear out whats accumulated. This was in the email I receved: Yogi Bhajan was asked the question "Is there a mantra, kriya, or meditation to help balance Mercury's influence, when the planet is retrograde? Yogi Bhajan answer is "If Mercury didn't go retrograde, we all would be out of our wits. When Mercury goes forward, it is the time to look at the world as a whole. When Mercury goes retrograde, it is a time to look at oneself. Looking at every aspect of oneself is the greatest meditation of all meditations. Please let Mercury do its job and you do yours." Anyway, I thought a good way to take advantage of the retrograde would be to chant more. The only chanting I've done is in the language Gurmukhi, coming from the Sikh faith. It's very similar to Sanskrit actually. I like the analogy of chanting being like a radio dial that tunes you in to certain frequencies, to help you "pick up" certain things, like a radio station. And right down to physically, the toungue triggering certain responses in the brain when it repeatedly touches certain points in the mouth. Any thoughts? IP: Logged |

I am right with you brownie, I don't know any chants but I am open to learning them for the mercury retrograde.I have one good mantra that I really like what it puts me in touch with: I am grateful for everything, I have no complaints. love fajita ------------------ Food is the only art that nourishes! >I am grateful for everything, I have no complaints.Very nice...it's amazing how a few simple words can mean so much. One chant that might work well right now that I know of is "Hum" - which is literally translated as "We" or "Us", and it's for the heart chakra, but I think it also helps the throat chakra/communication. You take a deep breath in and then carry the word for as long and deep as you can, letting it reverberate, with most of the time spent on the "mmmmmmmm". You can do it with your left hand over your heart and your right hand over your left hand, with your eyes closed, looking down. This is a simple chant, but it centers you and you can you can really feel it...it strikes me as a good mercury retrograde chant.
