How do these people know and find you? How do you know they are one?

Hi StarLover...

Well, I can say we are all each other's GURU and each person is their own GURU as well (our Higher S-elf). GURUs are ones we learn/"re-member" from (bringing the light... aka "knowledge" into the darkness... aka "ignorance" - the not knowing/remembering). Sometimes what we do learn are things not so pleasant - learning the negatives about the world or ourselves. I know my mom is one of my GURUs.... LMB is also... SO ARE YOU... so is the person who may have made me mad the other day! Everyone here is a GURU of mine, so is Linda Goodman. They come in many shapes, sizes and colors. I use to thank GURUs only showed up unannounced (some do) adorning cloaks, turbans, and smelling like incense. Of course, it would be a neat thing to be visited by such a one as Nahtan, who can disappear and re-appear at the blink of an eye!! Of course, I fully know those immortals exist, I just sometimes wish one would come knocking on my door with a basket full of esoteric goodies.

Greetings...

As Linda has said, the ancient adage is: When the student is ready, the Teacher appears."

I hear what you are all saying, I have a friend who voices the same thoughts at me frequently about wanting a Teacher to manifest in her Life.. she then proceeds to look the other way when people try to propose that I may be such a Teacher to her! It's very funny, one is never a prophet in one's own land! But what you say about us all being Teachers and Students of each other is very TRUE.

Have FAITH. It would be wonderful and magical if Abracadabra, a Teacher just appeared to one in a puff of smoke! However, if this were the case, one might pay more attention to the MESSENGER that appeared in that way, than the MESSAGE that they came to deliver, and that is the caution we must guard against when looking for a PHYSICAL TEACHER.

There is also the tendency to place this person upon a pedestal; and in that action, we miss the point of the message... that WE ARE ALL GOD.

The whole point of the GURU is to teach us that Gee, yoU aRe yoU! And yoU are GOD.

Trust that you will meet such a one. The bum, panhandling in the street may be such a one; sent to Teach us a Lesson if we have the eyes to see and the ears to hear.

I would also caution that the one that ANNOUNCES loudly and with great fanfare that, "I AM THE Teacher that you have awaited", may or may not BE. By their actions ye shall know them.

"Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained Angels unawares." - Hebrews 13:2

Read the books, have the conversations, walk the talk and keep the Faith!

Blessings and a magical promise for (a Teacher) tomorrow... <wink, wink>

A

Thanks A.

I have faith and don't doubt I have teachers all around.

I guess I just don't know when it is appropiate to dub someone my guru

Only when we are ready to accept the "hidden" GURUs (like the homeless person asking us for loose change to teach us to look beneath the surface or the "enemy" attacking us to teach us forgiveness) will we be ready to meet the personal GURUs.

Yes, gurus are usually hidden. The ones that go around announcing themselves grandiosely, sounding like Prof. Trelawney from Harry Potter, preaching from podiums to the enraptured masses, strike me as... um, dare I say it? ... fake. But the real ones, of course, are totally awesome!

Can they come in dreams?

And Randall, do you think Linda in Gooberz, was being truthful about the dog being her GURU in the dream? Or was it only for poetic and symbolic reasons?

Note 389 from volume 16 / The Notebooks of Paul Brunton...

"No adept presents himself to the public as such; it is for others to read the secret of his attainment. And since only those who have developed the same capacities as himself can read it, he usually remains obscure and unknown. He does not even seek to recruit disciples. He knows that the few who could absorb his help will come by destiny. It is written in some ancient Oriental text that among the signs whereby we may detect a person to be an Illuminated One, the condition of the eyes is most important and that in such a person they will resemble a baby's."

Hello all...

Randall...

Oh, I don't know about that dog being so symbolic... I've had a dog teach me a thing or two in my dreams. Truly!

Remember... DOG lexigrams into GOD!

Actually, the teachings were a composite of all Linda's personal GURU's!

Peace and Magic...
