I am currently teaching at an english language school in Japan and today one my students was pregnant so I asked her what the name is going to be amd she told me thats its very important to have a name that adds up to 31 0r 37 strokes of the pen ( one kanji or character might be 6 strokes for example). She thinks most Japanese people dont take it too seriously but maybe still do if you know what I mean!! How interesting!!
