The fact that I'm getting older does scare me abit, but, I have this great dream of what heaven is.

When my father died i thought that he'd come down that long lane, coated in white light as i've heard and see his mom, dad, and brothers that had passed on waiting for him and welcoming him.

Does anyone else have any ideas what heaven is like, or if there really is one, or are my ideas just happy thinking of what the afterllife is, and there really is nothing

The astral realms are whatever you dream they are. When you die, you experience dream sequences, you see events in a whole new perspective. The keyword is dream, that's all it is. A dream. You control that dream and wherever you decide to go. When you're dead you travel around with out your body. Only your astral self remains. Not everybody experiences the same events after death, which leaves me to believe that it's all a dream, just as life is only a dream. I think Heaven and Nirvana are states of mind.

I think it's great that you're gathering viewpoints, mmrtyvn. There are many books out there, and many with much metaphysical experience, as well as those who have had near-death experiences. The exact description may vary, but the themes are universal.

I used to know many Spiritualist mediums, and they said that in heaven, there are houses of healing -- that's where those who've crossed over from the earth plane while very sick, go first, to recover and heal. They said that friends and relatives, those who loved you, wait for you to greet you once you arrive. They also said that pets wait for you too. They talked of heaven as a plane where, like this one, a soul has choices, and may learn new things, and try new things, perhaps becoming a teacher or guide for someone on the earth plane.

Anyhow that's some of what I was taught. There's a lot more, but I'm sure you also have more ideas, and will continue to search for answers. I would try prayer and meditation -- you'd be surprised at how much truth is available to you with these methods.

cheers,
Lunargirl

Hi mmrtyvn and welcome!

I pretty much agree with what Lunargirl said. If you want more information on this subject, I recommend Sylvia Browne books. So far I've read The Other Side and Back, Life on the Other Side, and presently I'm reading Blessings From the Other Side. Particularly since my Mother's death, I have found immense comfort from this material. There are other books and authors with similiar information as well; I just happen to like Sylvia Browne's writing style.

Dear Mmrtyvn,

Heaven does exist although I think that word brings around too many funny connotations of angels on clouds with halos! etc.

It is a very real place, and you go there all the time in your sleep! At least you probably do, I think most people do.

Its just out there in the universe, The actual presence of 'god' is a huge spiral of rainbow light- a big glittering opal of divine love and light sparkling for all the world to live.

Worlds exist, planets much like our own where there are physical beings, many a lot like earthlings, living in utopia. SOme of the worlds are perfect (people arn't afraid, they don't turn away in shame, marraige doesn't exist because soul unions are so strong there is no need for marrital bindings, people don't murder one another or feel afraid of death because death is the mere leaving of the physical body and moving onto what is next) some other planets while not perfect still strive towards perfection and not one, except our own doubts the existence of their creator.

Never ever be afraid to die, unless there is cause for you to suffer in purgatory. Beyond the rings of love and light there are some bad places. Our earth has pretty much fallen into this darkness. It is horrifyingly sad, when Jesus visited earth he made it impossible for this planet to be cast away by god. If not for him it would have been destroyed by now because it did fall into darkness a long time ago, but there were souls who still prayed too and loved god. These souls go home too god. Live with love and light.

There is a here after, never ever doubt that.
Love, peace and light Alba.

And if all the stars stopped burning, if all the world fell in, we would still be here ready to start again with a new creation. You cannot die, There is darkness out there that threatens to dim the light but do not fear, when you do do pass over you will wonder how you ever thought you would stop existing. Even in the darkness you would still exist. Seeing as you are a knowflake, and all knowflakes here it is less likely your soul will fall too darkness, pray to god and talk to him like he is real, loves you, is close to you and you are part of him.
Love, peace and light Alba.

P.S Ooops, the end of the second message has an added paragraph, the rest is the same, I accidently posted twice.

P.P.S I think we're all a little afraid of dying, we probably think it will hurt. The pain is no more then the pulling of a tooth. Every one has felt physical pain and it is mostly bearable. Some suffer terribly when they die but it is only suffering, don't be afraid to suffer as it purges your soul. Love and Luck, Haley Baby Blu.

Not the fear of death, I hope i'm not going anytime soon, but just want to know what others feel about the afterlife. I'm a HHA (Homehealth aide), and have been with many people close to their dying, most are happy, some scared. Just wanted to know what people feel is there after death, reicarnation, or just hanging around on those clouds, or purgatory, (i always saw rows and rows of long wooden benches with people on them as a child_ I would hope that its a great place where you meet up with all the people you known, just curious

I always thought it'd be cool to ask God heaps of statistics. Otherwise there's something about me in this life that says life is life, and death is a door. That tunnel with the white light could be like the exit of the womb. The instant you get to the light, you could start screaming as an infant. All higher decisions could be made within that instant of re-birth. If you're called back for whatever reason, then your life merely ends, and you move on. Sometimes I like it when people casually say "your reason for living is to stand right there, right now". It's like life is soooo open to interpretation!
