I am very fascinated by aroma therapy..
i dont know much, but my aunt presented me with a bottle of lavender oil yesterday.
i have heard that lavender oil can reduce pimples, headaches, scratches, etc. and have 100 odd uses.
im also interested in what oils can cure dandruff, or reduce weight...
does anyone want to share their knowledge on it?

hi....i have this info from a book of mine..havent tryed it myself..but many others in this book have worked for me..

Dandruff..
for fair hair...add 1 drop of chamomile and one drop of lemon..to a spoonful of evening primrose oil...
for dark hair...use one drop or patchouli and one of ylang ylang in a spoon of evening primrose oil..
massage into the scalp for 5 mins...cover with hot towel for 20 mins...then wash off..

but..if u have low blood pressure..u should avoid ylang ylang...
also if ur pregnant be careful with all essential oils..

lavender oil rubbed on the temples for headache works well for me..lol
hope this helps...

ok,,,,
here it is..

Weightloss Bath..

these oils will improve body tissue tone and help "attack" the fat in your cells..

5 drops of grapefruit oil
5 drops of lemon oil
5 drops of sage oil
5 drops of basil oil

mix all oils in to your bath water.give yourself a good invigorating massage with a loofa sponge while in the tub.also massage the accupressure reflex point for the thyroid,at the base of each toe,for two or three minutes.afterward, relax and use the power of your mind to visualize your perfect body.if you care to,get a picture of yourself or a model with your ideal body type.look at it while in the tub and imagine your body transformed into this new one..
you may be surprised to find some hidden resistance come up while visualizing your new body-reasons that are keeping yourself over weight.one woman kept herself overweight because otherwise she could never say no to men when pursued sexually...another woman harbored anger at her husband, and this was her way for punishing him.a beautiful teenager gained a great deal of weight after being sexually abused.
there are a great many reasons why ppl are overweight, besides the fact that eating is fun, pleasurable and necessary.there has been much research done on food allergies causing people to be overweight.we usually crave the food we are most allergic to.eliminate that food from your diet for eight weeks is one way to curb the allergy.
open your mind and try to discover the emotional/or physical conditions that are causing you to be overweight...

ok..here is bath meditation

first of all, what u need is a positive mental attitude about ones body, about how you feel about yourself.its not about how many pounds your body weighs, but the heaviness of the feelings inside that you harbor about yourself.that is the most important weight to be lifted-the weight of negative feelings that you harbor within you...
when you are in this bath, mentally note these negative feelings, explore them, dont judge them-but seek them out,and in your infinate inner truth, discover what you really think about your body.your feelings come from way back.it could be something that someone said ages ago that stuck with you.perhaps this person was an authority figure when you were young.to release the past, you want to be in the present moment-but it is necessary and okay to explore the past as long as you stay in the present.you want to take the negative feeelings and erase them, and imagine the opposite being true.the heaviness is our inner heaviness, our inner pain-and the pain we may be carrying for others.we also smetimes need protection of sensitivity to the world, and our excess weight is our armour.
the condition of being overweight can be traced to something as simple as fear...fear of being everything we can be.the way our body is may simply be the way our body is meant ot be in this lifetime, and if thats what your heart tells you,you need to accept that, unconditionally.but if you are using your weightto hide out from fear-or becvause of low self esteem-thenn you need to look very honestly at yourself, and do this bath 2 or 3 times a week.let it be your time of exploration.dont judge yourself by the thougths you have harbored all along-begin by exploring your feelings instead.do this exploration process as a seperate meditation outside the bath.the most important component of your meditation needs to be self love and self acceptance.

AFFIRMATION..
i love myself, and i accept myself, totally the way i am at this moment of time.

as your body changes, love it and accept it that way too.but remember, you need to accept it the way it is,in order to have a solid foundation from which to change.

Hey Ladies

Wasn't really looking for a way to lose weight, i like eating -- lol

BUT -- I am hypothyroid (could lose a little anyway) and was VERY interested in the accupressue point for thyroid. Thanks CancerMoon -- I be needing to unswell this gland -- mekking me very tired and irritable.

Also, wondering what kind of dis-ease within me has caused this condition, if anyone knows. I sure have been through a lot in past 2 years and this finally diagnosed in April this year.

if you like aromatherapy, you will LOVE Dr Bronner's castille soaps. Mmmmmmmm....
I have the peppermint liquid castille soap and I can't use anything else to shower or even wash my hands!!! It is soooooooooooo addicting!!! The only thing is that since it is very concentrated, you need to dilute it before you use it, or use a LOT of moisturizer after. I tend to get dry skin after showering no matter what so I usually use a lot of moisturizer anyway (lol) But yeah, Dr Bronner's is amazing. It's all organic, and I'm an orgo freak, so it was love at first use And they have all different varieties too!!!

Where do you find those?

The soaps? I bought mine from a local GNC store here in baltimore. I think that all the GNC outlets have them in stock. It might be harder to get the lavender and almond and tea-tree oil varieties, but the peppermint isn't too hard to get a hold of. You might also be able to find them at other health stores. They also have a website, www.drbronner.com that has more info about his soaps and stuff. Hope this helps

I've definitely seen it in our health food store and one of the local supermarkets. My father used to buy this stuff at least 20+ years ago. I tried it recently and like the almond-scented and the lavender-scented soaps.
