Hi all,
I just realized today that I haven't had any "nightly visitors" in a while.

Now, before you guys get all excited thinking the wrong things, let me explain!

Up until aber 2 or 3 years ago, I used to have "out loud" conversations in the middle of the night with people who I would have sworn were there in my bedroom (to this day I cannot sleep without long pyjamas on, I always worry someone might "see" me!). Generally, but not always, these were people I knew, most often my best friend and family. Sometimes strangers, though. But I never really felt like I was asleep then, I can prett much remember it all, easily too. And when others would tell me to "shut up!" (i.e. husband who was woken up twice from my chatting) I would think, oh they are right, there really isn't anyone there!

Has anyone else experienced this? And why would it stop? I haven't had that in a long time now. Would love to hear your guys stories!

Nackie

Hello Nackie

I also do experience what you experience but only once or twice a year.
However, when it does happen, it is usually in my bedroom but I cant make out what they are saying even though i know they are speaking English.
Most of the time it is only 2 people talking.

I really don't want to seem like I'm doubting your experiences, but have you seen a counselor/psychiatrist? Even I would do that before believing that these experiences were in fact real and not in my head. I don't necessarily doubt the existance of spirits or "night people",but it sounds like me you are in need of immediate psychiatric help.

I've seen people at night. "Spirits" or "ghosts" They're never anyone I know. I wouldn't have conversations with them usually but sometimes I would say outloud "Who are you??" or "WHAT?" but that hasn't happened in a few months, I think.

While what Wych may be seeing is ghosts, Nackie - don't be ashamed to go to a doctor. Did you ever see a Beautiful Mind? Whatever it is, if it's causing you anxiety from changing in your bedroom, I empathize. Lord knows I have my own long list of issues I deal with.

LoL you guys, I think I didn't explain properly! I'm not afraid of getting dressed in my bedroom or anything, I don't associate anything like that with my bedroom. It would mostly be, in the middle of the night, very lively (unthreatening) conversations with these "visitors"--in a half awake state, I guess. As soon as some one would say, "hey, you're talking in your sleep again!" I would realize that I was doing that. I don't think it is a psychological problem though lol. It would just be chatting. I don't think it was ghosts, cause mostly it was family and friends it would happen with, and they are still more than alive lol. I just find it odd that it would stop after being a part of my nightimes for so many years. Doesn't anyone else have "visitors"? I always thought maybe it was astral projection...?

Perhaps you are lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is a form of dreaming in which reality and the dream becomes blurred. It usually occurs in a half asleep state. For instance in a lucid dream everything appears to be real - sight- sound- feeling- etc. Then when you wake up you question whether or not it really happened. I have had dreams where I'm in my bedroom getting dressed only to awake and find out I never got dressed, brushed my teeth etc. In lucid dreams other people can enter in and it all seems real. It might be possible you are combining lucid dreaming with talking in your sleep.

You said that you are concerned that you are being watched.People you know or do not know are present in the room with you. If dreams are a projection of what we are thinking about in our life and lucid dreaming usually occurs when stress is happening in life, you may want to go back and think what you were worrying about during that period of your life. My guess is that you may have had fears of being judged, of not doing something correct and someone finding out.Are you a consciencious person? Were you concerned about making a mistake and other seeing it?

The people we dream about are actually not those people but what they represent to us. For instance,I could dream about a celebrity, say Madonna. The dream could be about me taking command of my own life and expressing myseld more fully. So who were these people to you? What did they represent? Were they people you regarded highly? Even the ones you made up really are an extension of who you are - a belief about yourself put into a body.

Why did they stop? Because whatever the stress or concern was at the time has either been resolved, come to pass, or has been pushed further into your subconscious.

Some people have said you need psychiatric help. That may or may not be. You need help if: 1.this has limited your life in anyway. (See if you can get to the root of your PJ issue and why you feel unsafe and unprotected. If it's not resolve by yourself, then talking with a counselor for a few sessions could help.) 2. You are seeing or hearing things while fully awake. 3.You feel unresolved by this issue and need to figure it out. 4. Family members, co-workers, or friends have suggested you need help. 5. The dreams reoccur or become disturbing.

I tend to look for the psychological and physiological explanation and the possibility to gain insight about myself and how I can grow first. If all medical reasons are ruled out first throught competent assessment, then look to the metaphysical.

I hope this sheds some light onto your question. Take Care.

Wow, this has taken an unexpected, but interesting spin. First I want to clear what I meant about the pj thing--I sometimes, when I had these "chats" thought (during the chat) oh, god, I hope my butt isn't hanging out of the blankets! lol...that's all I meant with that. I'm neither afraid to get changed or feel I have to go to bed made-up incase someone sees me--was more meant just jokingly.

It does surprise me though, that no one else has had these "dreams". Maybe I am just wierd I've never felt threatened or sad by these dreams/visits/hallucinations...I think it's probably what you said, it's just a lucid dream. Something to think about!

I've spent the past few years reading and re-reading the Seth books, a lot of what is said in those books makes intuitive sense to me. In that light, maybe the dreams were spirits of my friends and families out of a different realm. Or maybe I just talk in my sleep! LOL

Sorry for the long reply above. My uneducated guess is your just lucid dreaming and talking in your sleep.

(Just my opinion)

Take care.
