My Mom's sweet, lovely, intelligent, wonderful dog, Abby was put to sleep in January. Soon after, one early morning while my Mom was getting ready for work, she felt a nudge against her leg, then some "body" following her to the garage steps. We think it was Abby. She has felt a couple bumps against her bed as well.
Recently, I was watching TV on my Mom's bed and felt a bump! against the bed. No one was visibly there but I suspected Abby. Then another time recently, I felt a thump right next to me on the bed. I think it was my baby love sweet dog "Hope" who was put to sleep in May.
SO my question IS.............if they don't have physical bodies anymore, HOW do they make the *bump* against the bed, or *nudge* us, or a little *thump* on the bed next to us????

I've heard story after story after story, and the concensus seems to be that a human presence affects electrical things, while a dog presence seems to be able to bump and nudge matter. Maybe it's because our human loved ones are content being near us, while our four-legged companions don't understand why we can't see them and focus all their Love into such a concentration as to affect surrounding matter to get our attention. Or maybe humans just figure they can't affect matter, while a dog doesn't have those doubts. But I am just guessing.

Randall, I'd say that's a darn good guess.

Yes, a dog wouldn't know how not to bump. So also, can you see dogs? It seems you can't, and yet you can see people. I've never heard of this before. Has anyone heard of other animals, like a horse or cat? And why do they "need" to contact us? I thought people did it for unfinished business?

Just my last thought that Dog is God backwards, so maybe the message is a "bit" higher than the dog?

Dean.

Wow! Great answers. Yeah, makes sense dogs don't even know about electricity so obviously what can they do to get our attention but bump us etc.
Abby used to bump your arm when she wanted something. If you stopped petting her she'd put her head/nose under your arm and bump your arm.
I have a book called "The Soul of your Pet" by Scott S. Smith and it's all stories of people who could see animals who have passed away.
My favorite story is one at the beginning;
A couple went to their friends farm for the weekend and at night asked if they could go feed the horses in the barn. So they brought some sugar cubes and carrots if I remember correctly. When they got back to the house they told their friends, there was one horse who stood away from the others by himself. He was black and had a Star on his forehead. We walked over to him and fed him. The friends said, "that horse was struck by lightening one month ago and is buried outside the barn."
Cool, huh? The book is full of stories like that.

Nephthys, I have to admit I laughed when I read you topic name. It sounded like a humorous take on ghost stories.
I think what a ghost/spirit/energy form that we can't see will effect matter depending on what it was like in life. It is in the nature of dogs to bump. Electricity may be in the nature of some humans, but other people have other ways of expressing themselves: I've heard stories about ghosts playing pianos.
