Blessings Meili, If I understand the concept of what you wrote, and you know how things go over my head, this seems to be the world we live in now. What I am getting out of this is that we must let go of our "ton of cabbage" or our false perceptions in order to know the truth. The few that remember correctly are there to teach us if we truly want to learn and follow the rules. Am I even close? Again I thank you for the insight. Sue

What a wonderful allegory on the human condition, Meili. Have you ever read a small book by Richard Bach called "Confessions of a Reluctant Messaiah"? It provides a similar allegory about creatures clinging to the bottom of a river. Thank you for the light you continually shine. I'll just go practice my swimming now. I gave all my cabbage to a guy down the street who still thinks he needs it. By the way, I know you are somewhere in BC...you wouldn't by any chance live in a place locally known as the East Shore would you?

Peace, Sister Meili. We are no longer neighbours, but we once were. Now I live in the Kootenays in the Southern Interior. Too bad...I would have loved to meet for a chat and a cup of chamomile tea. I thought perhaps you might be in a place we refer to as the East Shore because there is a special, spiritual place there where many seekers spend some time with teachers at an ashram. Some of those who have spent time at their lotus temple have spoken of teachings similar to the ones you mention here in Lindaland. Many, including pre-European native cultures, call the area where I live and the East Shore across the lake from me "The Valley of Lost Souls" because so many people end up here when they become weary of flailing around in spiritual darkness and begin to set their feet upon their chosen path. I will send you my e-mail address and if you ever come this way, perhaps we can enjoy a walk on the beach.

The book I mentioned isn't exactly new. I think it was published about 20 years ago. But since I think I read somewhere that the last time you watched much TV, Luke and Laura were getting married, perhaps the 1980's qualifies as pretty recent.

Peace and Joy to you and the ever-enjoyable Shizuka.

what a beautifully Mithraic analogy,I had to hold back a tear when he mentioned the attack on the "shipbuilders".Please, if you have any other parables by Idries Shah you can reproduce here, I would greatly appreciate reading them, I'm sure they all must hold similiar subtle wisdom.
