So ... I feel a little weird putting this into words, but seeing as how it just happened and I'm a little shaken up, I'll risk sounding just a tad bit weird. 
I recently moved into an apartment, far from home, with my hubby. He's at work all day during the week, and, for now, I stay home.
I can't figure out exactly why, but I really don't like staying here by myself. A few strange things have happened since we moved in, but they're of the sort I'm used to ... hearing my name being called ... feeling like I'm being watched but no one's there ... whispers I can't decipher ... extremely strange dreams, etc.
I've related all this to my hubby. He's never been too familiar with psychic phenomena, but he has an open mind and admits to feeling strange here sometimes and having relatively odd dreams on occasion.
Anyhoo, I particularly dislike showering when I'm home alone. Not a problem in the world when he's here, but I just get really anxious when I'm by myself. I feel like someone's in there with me ... watching. Creepy. I usually tell myself I'm being paranoid, say a prayer, and try to think happy thoughts until it's over, and then think nothing of it. Until today.
I was showering and the same feeling came over me. I tried my usual method of ignoring it, to no avail. I was actually scared, really, really scared ... for no apparant reason. I finished as quickly as I could, got dressed, and walked out into the apartment. Feeling silly but still freaked out, I decided to look in the spare bedroom and around the house in case ... I dunno' ... someone was in the house? I dunno' why my mind jumped to that conclusion but it did.
As I walked out of my bedroom, I looked at the second bathroom's door and noticed it was shut. "Hmm ... did I shut that door before I took a shower? I don't think so. Well, might as well open this one first and have a laugh at myself for being such a chicken." Heh. I went to open the door. It wouldn't open. I pulled it again, and wiggled the door knob. It was locked. Then I looked around and noticed that the door to the second bedroom (which was also open when I went to shower) was also shut.
I grabbed the phone, ran to my bedroom, sat on the floor, and called a friend. A good half hour later, talking to my friend, we decided I was being silly ... "Ha ha, an intruder would've done something by now. LOL Maybe it's a ghost," said my friend. And the blinds I was sitting next to began to move. AC off, not windy outside, and the other set of blinds right next to them perfectly still. Heh.
Eventually, I grabbed the key to the bathroom and with my hubby's sword in my hands I unlocked the door, feeling like a complete and utter foolish, chicken. Of course, no one was there.
I am absolutely, 100 percent positive that I did not close that door today ... and my hubby was nowhere near that bathroom before he went to work this morning.
What in the world?
Sorry such a long story, but I'm still kind of nervous about it and typing this is helping me feel better. 
Other psychic things don't bother me too much, but actual, tangible ... stuff! That's pretty new to me, lol.

wow, that is quite an experience. A few things, it sounds very possible that you have a ghost, or at the very least a strong energy "presence". I would not worry too much, aside from rattling your nerves, no energy or spirit can harm you unless you let it. Now might be a good time to look into the history of that apartment, there could be something there that gives clues as to what it could be. Of course it could also be that you are manifesting these things yourself, from your own fears, in fact that is just as likely. If you find that it feel like a negative energy, you can get rid of it. Just do not be afraid, there is nothing that it can do to you. If it continues to be a problem, there are things you can do to clease any negative energies from your home, and if it is a negative energy, it will be cleansed as well. Look into methods of cleansing negative energies from your home. FYI, I have not formally studies any of this, just some things I picked up during my times of reading about the supernatural. If you can't find any information, I may be able to dig up some of the information I read for you.IP: Logged |

I was just considering doing some sort of cleansing because I do think it needs to be cleaned out, lol. The apartments are relatively new, but there was at least one previous renter, although I don't know much about him/her.
Don't get me wrong, I really love this place and the setting ... also it's quite spacious and at a price I can't argue about ... but it's just weird. Having always grown up hearing and feeling things, etc. I suppose I have grown a little jumpy lol but never this bad. I mean the feeling was completely foreign to me, seriously. I've had contact with quite a few different entities, mostly thru dreams and the tarot, or just automatic writing, and even though a few of them have not been the nicest or happiest, none of them have terrified me, or even come close. I am reluctant to admit this is a ghost ... simply because I've never felt anything like this before. I am aware that nothing can hurt me and that I am protected by my S-elf at all times, and I even knew I wouldn't be hurt while this was all happening, but it nevertheless was scary.
I mentioned that a few things have happened here before. Here's one so you see what I mean. One night, I was laying in bed with my hubby. It was fairly late so we were eager to just pass out. He fell asleep first and was slumbering quite restfully as I finally began to nod off. And then I heard it. A very loud, deep and distinctly male voice calling out, "Help me!" I mean, it sounded like someone was yelling in my ear. I bolted up in bed and looked around. Nothing. My hubby was still fast asleep. I laid back down and began to pray and visualize white light all around me, and I asked for that which is greater to help any being that was present in anyway that was necessary for them. Then I heard a couple of voices in a strange dialect conversing, in hushed tones although loud, and a drum beat in the background. I woke up my hubby at this point and asked him if he could hear them because they were quite distinct to me, although garbled. He groggily looked around and said he didn't hear any voices but asked something like, "what's that sound a drum or something?" As he spoke, the sound began to die away ... He fell asleep and so did I just fine after that. In the morning, he vaguely recalled hearing something that sounded far away, and was surprised to hear what I've just related. He figured it was a radio or something, but if it was, I'm sure the sound would've woken him up because it was quite loud, and, besides, I don't know anyone around here that would be listening to a steady drum beat with a tribal feel to it, loud as all life, at that hour of night.
Funny though, that didn't really scare me. It was a little disturbing perhaps, but not frightening. If anything, I felt sympathy towards that entity, and a great desire to help.

Sounds like you may be experiencing some kind of psychic connection. You said similar feelings happened before, maybe your abilities are becoming stronger and more pronounced. You may want to look for informationon how to use and control this type of psychic ability, it sounds like you may have awakened some latent ability. If so learning to control it would be a good idea, as it could become very unnerving very quickly if that were the case.IP: Logged |

Hmm ... I hadn't conisidered that greyheart, but I will now. Thank you so much for your insight! I guess I have quite a bit of thinking, meditating, and researching to do now! LOL
I will try my best to understand it if it is a new ability, and control it as the case may be. And if this is my first taste of something new, then I believe you are correct in saying that it could easily becoming unnerving! Thank you again  IP: Logged |

i think what grayheart sez is relevant. if you do however, ever find yourself wanting to 'cleanse' an area, i have found burning sage to be wonderful. although what you describe sounds pretty linked to the apartment. i know a friend of my mom's had an experience with a ghost that sounds similar to yours. she said weird things were happening all around the house. she finally confronted the entity verbally and asked what it wanted. she also did reasearch on the background of the house...found out a teen girl had died in the front yard. she was lonely and asking for help. she said confronting her helped but she still felt followed around alot...the ghost just liked her. so much so that the day they moved out the girl grabbed her!! she never did any harm though. like grayheart said, they can't...but that is hard to beleive in the moment sometimes when you feel overwhelmed and confused.

Thank you, spiria! How very insightful I was considering doing a cleansing with sage, as I've heard it's properties are quite appropriate to my current needs. I'll see what I can manage on my own, but I nevertheless am very grateful for your offer. Perhaps I will indeed find I need any information you have to offer and, if so, I'll post again concering it. Thank you so much again!
Also, I can relate to the feeling of being followed around at times ... almost like being observed. That doesn't bother me too much, but it gets a little annoying at times to constantly think I'm seeing things out of the corners of my eyes, lol. 
I have yet to find out anything more about the previous residents, but I'm working on it.
The atmosphere in our home seems to be a little more relaxed since the incident, so I am being optimistic and taking it as a good sign for now. IP: Logged |

Wow! Usually when I do actually see something, especially out of the corner of my eyes, it is a white light! Sometimes I see just a twinkling light ... and other times I see shadows  I've always seen them and, instinctively, have felt good feelings towards the lights and apprehensive feelings towards the shadows.
Aside from a good friend of mine, I have never met anyone else who sees these lights/white. Do you have any insight on them? I really haven't been able to find out much about them as far as general psychic research is concerned.
As for the apartment's vibes, I've been feeling much more at ease lately. Still lots of the usual phenomena, but no more creepy feelings. Well, not too many creepy feelings anyway, lol.
I have been having some trouble procuring sage (smudge wands in particular) in my new little town, so I am now looking on-line for suppliers. 
Perhaps the feng shui is all wrong in here as well, since we haven't managed to figure out where exactly we want all the furniture. Some of the placements currently feel very off.  I'm trying everything! LOLIP: Logged |

I'm not sure how it's done in N.C., but in Florida, you can actually call the police station and ask them to give you a criminal history of where you live, over the phone.Like, before I bought my first house, I did that. I think it even includes 911 calls made out from there, I can't remember. But if something major happened there, you might be able to find out. leave! now!move! i'm not being funny or trying to scare you... i lived with my sister 2 years ago and i swear i had an experience! i am feeling juts like you. i experience weird fragrances and smells from time to time and a few other things that i won't go in to right now. but i was in her bedroom and i had such a weird feeling. creepy. i left the room because the feeling overwhelmed me. i went back into the bedroom to retrieve something (a book, the phone, i don't remember) and i heard 'something' say: "you'd better leave now if you don't want to be a part of this!" it was like this thing was about to battle with something evil. honey, 'it' did not have to tell me twice. i ran outta that room as fast as i could! and everyone who was in the house ran with me (outside) and asked me what happened. i shared it with them. i moved out of her house a few weeks later. i have not had an angry experience like that since. oftentimes, you may not know what 'it' is, but i think we are wise to listen. ------------------

Sounds like you've got just about all the advice you need. If the experience continues to disturbe you, you might want to consider moving out as soon as you can- asking the police for the record is good advice. However, if you're feeling better and the clairaudience/clairvoyance comes more naturally to you, then...well...lol ------------------

Hi Eleanor,I also lived in a "haunted" apartment for several years. I have to admit, I found it disturbing, although I was never harmed or placed in danger or had great fear. It was a small child that some others could see, but not me (I heard and FELT). I moved out! A "ghost buster" told me you tend to get the ghosts you deserve, and that the best way to "exorcise" them is to simply not care, to emotionally disengage from them and their antics. This takes strong nerves! Also you can try talking to them and ask them to move on. I did take his advice and managed to get some sort of workable relationship going. (I was lucky that I basically had a good, but mischevious ghostie). But in the end moving out made more sense. I have since discovered that nobody has lived at that address for very long. I see white light out of the corner of my eyes, and shadows....atnight I see green and purple flecs floating, and daytime it's sparkles = ) specially when i look at the sky. As I was told the white lights are angels and the shadows are demons....usually a begone in the name of God! works quite well for shadows. The angels are only there to protect you = )Feel safe hun, and know that my prayers are with you always = )

Talk about scare mongers. You guys have watched a few too many movies I think You are in control of your environment, no one owns it or controls it but you. Become the boss of your new place, do not let fear take over. Negativity builds up in the corners of rooms, if you clap twice in each corner of each room, the negativity will disapear. ------------------

majenta ~ I think you're so right about ultimatly being in control of our own environment. A confident, happy attitude can do wonders. I think it's our own negativity that builds up in the corners (minds and homes) and clapping might do very well for that sort, however, outside influences can sometimess require a stronger defense. But regarding the movies -sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. love Emmerson too by the way. household god. tink

hey eleanore. those are quite some experiences you're having, but fret not. you are so very capable of tuning your soul to the magnitudes your mind is reaching in your new shell. you just have to adjust. think of rudolf steiner. he was born "gifted", yet he could not truly use it until he disciplined himself.
there are no coincidinces. random things do not happen to random people. specificity is adherent. you've been sent there for a purpose. we are all afraid. those who face their fear, shall ace their ear and the other senses with it.
i am happy for you for you are going to reach the higher levels.

Thank you all so much for your kindness and concern ... you all also have some pretty great advice.
I'm making a concerted effort to BE positive, cleanse the apartment (both tangibly and energy-wise), and to be comfortable in the silence and aloneness. I still feel like I'm being watched at times, and the lights and shadows out of the corners of my eyes are still there as usual although now they seem ... more defined. There was an incident recently when I read the tarot here and the lights in the other rooms began to turn on and off (like 6 or 7 times in rapid sequence), and something in the room I was in just happened to fall off a shell immediately after. I wasn't scared, more amused, but my hubby kinda' took a fright. I suppose I wasn't afraid because of the precautions I take before I read and also the mild meditative state of mind I achieve while doing so. I feel that perhaps it is someone/something trying to get attention but for what I have yet to understand.
I'm still working on getting some sage, but for now basil's been a pretty good friend. I'll try the clapping method and see if that helps to clear up anything. Thanks so much for all the advice and positive energy, really, it makes me feel warm and cuddly inside.  IP: Logged |

Eleanore,  How did I miss this topic before?  anyhow, I didn't read everyone's long posts (due to my Aries Moon and Asc.).......but I do believe you have a spirit there. The reason I believe this mostly is because you have stated a few times that you "feel like you are being watched". I really believe that if someone feels they are being watched, then it is true. Stay positive, think positive, surround your entire apartment building with beautiful Christ White Light. Ask Angels to surround it and protect you. Angels LOVE  to be called on for help. I think magenta's advice is pretty much what the ghost buster told me. It's good advice - but like I said, you need strong nerves to do it.Another thing you could try is sending it love in abundance. If it is something "dark" it will not be able to handle it and will leave (read this in a book recommended in Linda's reading list). If it is neutral, the love will help it evolve. If it is good, it will stick around! I don't think you have anything to fear; it can't hurt you and you are always protected by your Higher Self. But these things can be annoying, and unless you want to spend all your free time burning herbs, clapping your hands, sending it love and light, reciting your mantras, praying, meditating and putting up crystals, it might be less tiresome to simply move out. Then again, give it some time - you might get quite attached to little Casper! Linda liked her ghosts, although I notice she also moved house ... PS An old folk tale is that a spayed (desexed) ***** dog will keep out spirits. I now have a female terrier, and a few times I have seen her barking "at nothing" (she's not a barker usually) and I've never seen, felt or heard anything remotely weird since getting her. There could be a grain of truth in the old yarn, though for the life of me I can't figure out the connection. IP: Logged |
