I am in my late 30's and I when I reflect on my past, I feel like each decade was a completely different lifetime. Each decade of mine was so different; the past sometimes doesn't seem real, it seems like a dream, or it seems *SO LONG AGO* that it was another life. Anyone else feel the same way? I am really, really curious!!!! Thanks. IP: Logged |

Kinda. I look back at photos of me taken at various stages in my life, and barely even recognize the person I was. I feel different, but related... IP: Logged |

Actually they do - although I would categorize it as different "eras" rather than seeming like different lifetimes. Luckily I've always had this perception of time that means it doesn't seem to fly and/or pass me by, so the past doesn't seem as far away to me. You know, the people who say that time flies after high school and before you know it BLAM!, well I never had that sense of time, but perception of time is probably a subject for it's own thread But yes, my life's "eras" do seem to work in decades as well... ------------------ “The good things which belong to prosperity are to be wished, but the good things that belong to adversity are to be admired.” Seneca IP: Logged |

Oh yes...I remember my life in terms of decades, because they were all so distinctly different and reflected very different phases of my life. I also feel as though I've lived several lifetimes already. I read somewhere that the Pluto configuration I have (it's the apex of a fixed T Square - Venus/Saturn on either side - with a pronounced emphasis on Scorpio/my 8th...which in my chart are both) could indicate many abrupt, drastic changes in life; precipitated by events beyond my control and that's putting it mildly. Each one of those abrupt changes, changed me so drastically that a part of me "died" and a new part was "born". Like adding layers to the personality, I guess. Having said THAT, I also think time truly is relative. I can remember certain events from my past going way back before I started school and up...and they literally feel like "yesterday". Today...a song, a scent, the weather on a day in a given season...are triggers that can instantly transport me back in "time", and I'll feel the same emotions all over again. I'm grateful for this because it has aided me during those times of crisis/calamity; kept me grounded somehow. Anyway...my two cents. IP: Logged |

Yes, I love nostalic senses. I think there's a word for it...I love looking back at things you know you've done, but can't for the life of you remember doing, or sometimes how you did. It happens in programming a fair bit if you don't comment properly But as for the decades thing, I'm only half way through my third, and so far, yes, they are completely different! I'd imagine that my later decades may seem somewhat similar though. Dean. ------------------ Imagination is more important than memory!
